I like to ask that my mother is 75 years old she is in the state of iddat for three days. my friend of age around 30 -45 years visits to pay their condolences . Is my friends are non Mehraam for her? I like to confirm that her period of iddat is 3 months ? If she requires traveling due to health conditions during her 3 rd month of iddat is this permissible? Regards HHa |

Iddah for the widow is 4 months and 10 days. “And those of you who die and leave wives behind them, they (the wives) shall wait (as regards their marriage) for four months and ten days, then when they have fulfilled their term”[surat al-Baqarah 2:234]. It starts when the husband passes away. It is calculated with Islamic calender (lunar calender). 29.6 days. Etc... you can find an online converter for it. She can go out for necessity during her iddah. But not during late evenings and night. Yes ofcourse your friends are non-mahram. A woman’s mahram is anyone whom she is permanently forbidden to marry, because of blood ties, breastfeeding or ties through marriage, such as her father, son, or brother. |
