i just converted and my husband family have mistreated me they fought on me and are disrespectful do i have to keep good ties with them they still disrespect me and nevr said sorry or anything.and mother converted before it had happen so i would think she knows better |

If your husband has not embraced Islam then your Nikah (Marriage) according to islam is invalid. You can not live with him. O you who believe! When believing women come to you as emigrants, examine them, Allah knows best as to their Faith, then if you ascertain that they are true believers, send them not back to the disbelievers, they are not lawful (wives) for the disbelievers nor are the disbelievers lawful (husbands) for them. But give the disbelievers that (amount of money) which they have spent [as their Mahr] to them. [Holy Qur'an 60:10] Mahr: mahr is the amount to be paid by the groom to the bride at the time of marriage (nikah) And do not marry polytheistic men [to your women] until they believe. And a believing slave is better than a polytheist, even though he might please you. [Holy Qur'an 2:221] |
