IS THE STONING PUNISHMENT REALLY MISSING, WHAT REALLY HAPPENED??? I understand the stoning punishment used to be in Surah Al Ahzab (Qur'an Chapter 33) is NOW Missing From the Quran to the extent that Caliph Umar (ra) expressed his fears that let the Ummah of the Rasul (Salallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) say the Stoning Punishment was not in the Quran.

@Bani Hashim, nothing is missing in Qur'an and nothing is like Today's Qur'an .Qur'an is same as of 1400 years ago. The thing is you didn't understand it, let me clear you about the verse you quoted, Holy Qur'an 24:2,

The [unmarried] woman or [unmarried] man found guilty of sexual intercourse - lash each one of them with a hundred lashes, and do not be taken by pity for them in the religion of Allah , if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment. [Holy Qur'an 24:2]

It clearly shows that the punishment for unmarried woman and man are 100 lashes.

Now lets see what Holy Qur'an says about our Holy Prophet (S.A.W),

And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger and transgresses His limits - He will put him into the Fire to abide eternally therein, and he will have a humiliating punishment. [Holy Qur'an 14:4]

Say, "Obey Allah and the Messenger." [Holy Qur'an 3:32]

Now, First thing you should keep in mind my friend is that, Allah's Messengers (Peace be upon them all) do not do something without Allah's permission. Messengers (Peace be upon them all) are the only the practical model of Allah's command. And there are many hadiths as a proof are available which shows that Holy Prophet (S.A.W) gave the punishment of stoned to death to married man and women who committed unlawful sex. And they are Sahih hadiths.

Now, if (Nouzubillah) you ignore the Sahih Hadiths my friend and you want everything from Holy Qur'an then you should also stop offering prayers my friend because no where in Holy Qur'an the procedure of Salaah (Namaz) is given. So, will you stop praying? Or how will you pray?

Note: I am giving you an example, and I'm no way telling you to stop offering your prayers.

Hope, now you are clear.

Astaghfirullaah, I'm not disputing anything Brother, but seeking knowledge / Clarification ONLY, However, I do know It is said that the Stoning Punishment was in [Quran 33] and also Caliph Umar [ra] fears I mentioned above is also an authentic one. I this the way I composed the Question let you see it that way. Now was the stoning Punishment ever in Quran 33 or anywhere in the Quran and Did Caliph Umar ever lamented on the issue? As Salaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatul Laah.

Please everyone should read this, IT IS ALL ABOUT ABROGATION TO QURANIC TEXT:

Stoning to death (رجم Rajm), according to traditional interpretations of Islamic law, is primarily a punishment for persons who engage in unlawful sexual relations (which include homosexual relationships), and is one example of ABROGATION (NASKH) being applied to QURANIC TEXT WHICH DOES NOT GO WITH THE PUNISHMENT. The Punishment for Adultery still stand as DEATH BY STONING!!!!

*THE ANSWER: THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF ONE ABROGATION BEING APPLIED TO QURANIC TEXT DURING THE LIFETIME [NOT AFTER] OF THE PROPHET [SALLAL LAAHU ALAYHI WA SALLAM]***

Stoning to death (رجم Rajm), according to traditional interpretations of Islamic law, is primarily a punishment for persons who engage in unlawful sexual relations (which include homosexual relationships), and is one example of ABROGATION (NASKH) being applied to QURANIC TEXT BUT WHICH DOES CANCEL THE PUNISHMENT IN THIS CASE. The Punishment for Adultery still stands as DEATH BY STONING!!!!

According an Authentic Hadith like the one given below, the Qur'anic verse of rajm (stoning) was originally found in Surah Al-Ahzab - Chapter 33.

"Umar [RA] said to me ‘How many verses are contained in the chapter of al-Ahzab?’ I said, ‘72 or 73 verses.’ He said it was almost as long as the chapter of the Cow, which contains 287 verses and, in it there WAS the VERSE of STONING." - [Al-Muttaqi ‘Ali bin Husam al-Din in his book “Mukhtasar Kanz al-’Ummal” printed on the margin of Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Volume 2, page 2, in his hadith about Chapter 33]"

May Allaah Ta'ala continue to guide us.

Subhaanal Laahi Wabi Hamdihi, Subhaanakal Laahumma Wabi Hamdika, Ash Hadu Allaa Ilaaha Illa Anta Astaghfiruka Wa Atubu Ilayk.
