My best friend is Muslim and when I asked him and his family what Muslim means they all said, "follower of Allah through Islam." I keep seeing on this website muslims saying that everyone is born Muslim. How can you be born something without knowing what it is. It takes years of wisdom to become something whether it be Jewish, Christian, Muslim, or part of any other religion. That's why God created us in a way to choose for ourself right? Otherwise God would be Communist/hypocrite which he is not. Please explain if I have missed something cause even my Muslim friends say the same thing as I do.

I do want to say that I, myself, am Christian and have no intentions to change this but I do respect those who respect me and my belief.

Islam is derived from the Arabic root "Salema": peace, purity, submission and obedience. In the religious sense, Islam means submission to the will of God and obedience to His law.

Everything and every phenomenon in the world other than man is administered totally by God-made laws, ie. they are obedient to God and submissive to his laws, they are in the State of Islam.

To see an example, refer to the heavens and the movement of all the planets. Everything takes its designated course and this does not happen by accident.

Yet another example is in the way that all living things behave and independently of man sustain themselves.

Babies are also in obedience with the same God-made law. Babies do what Allah has enjoined them to do: they cry and gurgle as a form of communication (every mother knows the different cries which communicate different needs/situations ie. I’m hungry cry, I’m hurting cry, I’m happy sounds etc). Babies do that which they are supposed to do.

In the absence of these observations, mothers and nurses are concerned. We all expect this behaviour from babies as it is the norm.

There is no way that it can be said that babies are ‘sinning’ by way of their behaviour. What an unfair start to life that would be!

Babies grow up to be men and women and possesses the qualities of intelligence and choice, thus they are invited to submit to the good will of God and obey His law, ie, retain their place as Muslims.

Now this ability to choose discerningly does not begin to develop until the onset of puberty.

And Alaah, the creator of all things and the universe has said:

“Allah is the Creator Of all things, and He is the Guardian and Disposer of all affairs.” Surah No.39 Verse 62.

“Such is Allah, your Lord, The Creator of all things, there is no god but He: Then how you are deluded away from the Truth!” Surah No.40, Verse No.62.

“To Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and earth: To Allah do all matters return.” Surah No.3 Verse No. 109.

Be informed that Allah the Almighty has created you for one single purpose which is to worship Him alone.

Allah says:

“I have only created Jinns and men, that they may serve Me”. Surah No.51 Verse No. 56.

Submission to the good will of God, together with obedience to His beneficial Law, ie, retaining your place as a Muslim, is the best safeguard for man's peace and harmony.

Islam dates back to the age of Adam and its message has been conveyed to man by God's prophets and messengers, including Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad.

Islam's message has been restored and enforced in the last stage of the religious evolution by God's last prophet and messenger, Muhammad.

The word Allah in the Arabic language means God, or more accurately, The One and Only Eternal God, Creator of the Universe, Lord of all lords, King of all kings, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

The word Allah to mean God is also used by Arabic speaking Jews and Christians.

So, the whole creation belongs to Alaah SWT. We are all a part of His creation.

Sadly, some do not choose to use their free will understand this.
