Is wairing a gold chain haram if your a guy?
It is haraam for men to wear gold, because of the hadeeth narrated by Muslim (2090) from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) which says that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saw a gold ring on a man’s hand. He took it off and threw it aside, and said: “Would one of you go and pick up a live ember of fire and hold it in his hand?” After the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had left, it was said to the man: Take your ring and benefit from it (by selling it). He said: No, by Allaah, I will never pick it up when the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) has thrown it aside.
Abu Dawood (4075), al-Nasaa’i (5144) and Ibn Maajah (3595) narrated from ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) took a piece of silk in his right hand and a piece of gold in his left and said: “These two are haraam for the males of my ummah.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.
Ahmad (6556) narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever of my ummah wears gold and dies wearing it, Allaah will forbid the gold of Paradise to him, and whoever of my ummah wears silk and dies wearing it, Allaah will forbid the silk of Paradise to him.” Classed as saheeh by Shu’ayb al-Arna’oot in Tahqeeq al-Musnad.
Because gold and adorning oneself with it are things that are suited to the nature of women and the role for which they have been created, it is obviously wise for it to be forbidden for men to imitate women in that. The great scholar Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in I’laam al-Muwaqqi’een (2/109):
Concerning the necklace it is haram or a chain. It is proven that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) forbade men to imitate women and women to imitate men.
It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) cursed men who imitate women and women who imitate men.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5885.
It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) cursed men who wear women’s clothing and women who wear men’s clothing.
Also imitating the kafir The prophet (S.A.W.) said, "You will surely follow the ways, steps, or traditions of those who came before you, span by span and yard by yard (very closely) even if they entered a lizard's hole you will enter it." The companions asked, "Oh prophet, you mean the Jews and Christians?" so he answered, "Who else!" [Reported by Imam Bukhari]
The second hadith is "He is not one of us, he who imitates others. Do not imitate either the Jews or the Christians." [Reported by ImamsTermithy & Abu-Dawd]
The third hadith is "If one imitates another nation he will be from them." [Reported by Imam Abu-Dawd]
Lastly I would like to mention another point that is not directly related to this question.
A lady yashrabu if iniel fida inama yujurjiru fi Nara jahanam. He who drinks from a silver vessel is assuredly gargling hellfire in his abdomen.
La tashribu fi inie dahaba wal fida wa la takulu fi suhafihuma fa inama lahum fi dunya wa lahum fil akhira. Let not you drink from gold and silver vessels, nor eat from. Gold and silver utensils, for they are from them( the desbilivers) in this world, but for you in the hear after.
So inshallah I just wanted to include this information of you did not know.
And Allah knows best
