Fine art in Islam

Its okay to be a learned person but if it has to do with the drawings and paintings of humans and animals it isnt allowed the prophet said(in translation) the one who draws pictures is cursed and on judgement day allah will ask them to put souls into their drawing and they will not know how. inn another narrtion his wife bought a picture from the market and he told her to cut it up and use it in their cushions because the angels do not enter the homes with dogs or pictures. and later he added if you must draw somthing or buy a picture then let it be an innatimate object. because innatimate objects dont have souls. and lastly he once had an appointment to see angel gabrial at noon and noon passe and he still hadent come the prophet thought he was angry at him and was saddened for a while untill a puppy jumped out from underneath a cushion he asked his wife if she brought it in and she said no he shooed the dog out and said the angels do not enter the homes with dogs or pictures and after the dog was kicked out angel gabrial came to the prophet.

Narrated 'Aisha:

Allah's Apostle returned from a journey when I had placed a curtain of mine having pictures over (the door of) a chamber of mine. When Allah's Apostle saw it, he tore it and said, "The people who will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection will be those who try to make the like of Allah's creations." So we turned it (i.e., the curtain) into one or two cushions.

The Prophet said, "Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or there are pictures."

Allah's Apostle said, "Those who make these pictures will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to them. 'Make alive what you have created.'"

Once Gabriel promised to visit the Prophet but he delayed and the Prophet got worried about that. At last he came out and found Gabriel and complained to him of his grief (for his delay). Gabriel said to him, "We do not enter a place in which there is a picture or a dog."

I have a large book on ancient Islamic art. There are many pictures that include people and angels, there are picture story's of Muhammad being taken for a night journey through paradise. There are pictures of the profit fleeing Mecca and arriving in Madina. There are pictures of the Great Festival, and many other quite beautiful. So Muslam society must not have always thought art or the depiction of the human form was a bad thing. Is this idea that art is bad a re-writing of history and beliefs?

no just because you have a book written by a muslim dosent mean its correct you dont just do what people that call themseleves muslims do there are people that drink and call themselves muslim dosent mean its ok for you to drink now we follow the prophet and the quran and those quotes above are from muhammad this came much before the book that you speak of and not only is drawing humans haram drawing the prophet is an even worse sin this mean that the muslim society thought it was wrong then this book of yours came after and the book is a re-writing of history and belifs
