When I reverted back to Islam, I was told that when we pray we stand heel to heel and shoulder to shouler. Is this correct? If not what is the proper way to stand in rank? And if it is the way we pray what do I say to the muslim who dose not want to touch? I was told that to not be touching is to let shaytan creep into the ranks

Assalam-0-Alikum, First of all I want to congratulate you for reverting to Islam, may Allah (S.W.T) increase your Imaan and Knowledge.

Yes, we join shoulder to shoulder when we pray in Congregation. And when we say satan will creep in spaces it means the satan of superiority or inferiority complexes. The message of praying in congregation is that all the Muslims without any discrimination on Cast, Color or Status stand side by side and feel same in front of Allah (S.W.T). King and Peasant has same value when they stand to pray, they all are slave of Allah (S.W.T).

Note: shoulder to shoulder doesn't mean to make the prayer difficult for your fellow Muslim don't make it too congested.
