I saw a debate of Dr. Zakir Naik which explained that Islam is actually the one religion that advices marriage of one woman, though more is permissible if agreed upon by all parties.

my question is...if a man has a means of having more than a wife but decides not to have more wives, is Allah going to question him for not adding more wives since he has the means.

islam have its own point of view and law. in islam without marry not allowed any relation between male and female. this law for purify society. islam guides people to haven not to hell. in case of marriage islam allowed for men one wife and its limited up to four. this doessn't mean everybody is compulsion to do it. the second one allowed with strictly conditions. if anyone not having second one how it can be sin. it is not sin. i will tell you a example how islam control the society. there is a park. every day many visitors coming to park and they spit allover the park then manager put a tray in the corner of park and he fix a board that if anyone want spit do it here. this doesn't mean everybody should do it right? who want use it. now check the result. park become clean and tidy. if you want spit anywhere you no need law (tray) if you didn't use tray (law) park becomes dirty. islam making clean society by law of god.

No it is not a sin. If you ave the means and want to then go right ahead, but if you do not have the means, and cannot treat more wives fairly and properly/justly, then keep the one only and don't marry more.

All Says:

And if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry those that please you of [other] women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one or those your right hand possesses. That is more suitable that you may not incline [to injustice].
