The sources that jook mentioned are not Islamic sources. They are false sources belonging to the Christian and Jews. They slander the prophets. For example, on the New Testament it's says that lot was drunk and sleeper with his dayghter. Their are many other false statements. So seek my warning I suspect he is not Muslim.

Inshallah if you really want to learn their are many books about them that you can find. If you don't want to buy them, then you can read them online as PDF. There are also audio and lectures were you can learn about the subject. I will post some sources to were you can read them.

This website has around 33 books and audio over the prophet Muhammad

Or all the prophets that were mentioned. This is by Ibn khather

What source of law will you seek besides Allah? Allah has already made it clear in the Qur'an that He revealed the former scriptures.

But I think you missed that Holy Qur'an also says that the people of previous scriptures edited the scriptures with their own hand.

And among them are unlettered ones who do not know the Scripture except in wishful thinking, but they are only assuming. So woe to those who write the "scripture" with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allah ," in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn. (Holy Qur'an 2:78-79)

Okay like someone who does not know the scriptures, as in someone who does not understand them, yet understands them only with wishful thinking.

Like, in the scripture itself when it says "Whoever has ears, let them hear."

Just because someone has ears does not mean they will hear what the Word of God really has to say in fullness, though they might hear the words themselves...

One can still read the translations of the Bible, and hear what God has to speak to them if He so wills to let them learn that way.

May Allah (S.W.T) increase your thirst for knowledge of Islam. Brother, the stories of 124,000 are not mentioned in Holy Qur'an or in Hadiths (S.A.W) but there number is given as a declaration of the Prophet-Hood of 124,000 Prophets (a.s). Only 26-27 Prophets with their name are mentioned in Holy Qur'an and all their Stories are authentic which are provided in Holy Qur'an and Hadith (S.A.W) and do not seek any story from Un-Islamic Sources they will mislead you until they are as per provided in Holy Qur'an and Hadiths (S.A.W).

Second thing, please be careful when you read Ibn Katheer because he has quoted weak hadiths as well and a beginner may take wrong message from it as well. Your faith must be very strong before reading Ibn Katheer.

are we allowed to read the Christian side of story the bible in order to help us understand and follow the prophets and when we take shahada on Muhammad saws why aren't the oter prophets mentioned as a group

answered 1113 happymuslim's gravatar image

still don't understand why some Christians disapprove of old testament prophets saying jesus was non-violent and only mentions Isaiah and David and this because muslims take all prophets Lut Solomon plus David Jesus so could disapprove of the Christian policy of nonviolence

very important points to recall studying all religions even buddhism
