As salamu Alaikum brothers and sisters. I am new to this sight and I am sick and tired of nonbelievers and terrorist like those bombers in Boston and Hamas giving our religion a bad name. What can we do to change it?

I'm not sure what religion you are from, but if you mean islam then this statement is a pure lie.

“and you shall certainly hear much that will grieve you from those who received the Scripture before you (Jews and Christians) and from those who ascribe partners to Allaah; but if you persevere patiently, and become Al-Muttaqoon (the pious) then verily, that will be a determining factor in all affairs”[Aal ‘Imraan 3:186]

Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the majority have nothing to do with the extremely grave events which have come to be associated with their faith.

many Westerners don’t have a clear idea of what this religion entails.

Our attitude must be clear; we must explain to the kuffaar the ruling of Islamic sharee’ah concerning harming and killing others. We should tell them that Islam forbids harming innocent people in any way, whether that involves harming their bodies, their wealth or their honour. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm.” It is not permissible to kill a kaafir who is not hostile or who has a legitimate peace treaty with the Muslims; rather treating a non-hostile kaafir with kindness is part of the Islamic religion, especially if that is done to call him to Islam and soften his heart (towards Islam). Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Allaah does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion nor drove you out of your homes. Verily, Allaah loves those who deal with equity”[al-Mumtahinah 60:8]

What these so called muslim have done is a action which Islam condemns

The most important part of the body is the heart as has been mentioned by our noble Prophet Muhammed - SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam - in his saying, “Indeed there is a piece of flesh in your body that, if it be sound, then the whole body will be sound and if it be corrupt then the whole body will be corrupt. Indeed it is the heart.” - Sahih al-Bukhari [1/49] & Sahih al-Muslim [1599]

The heart is thus the port where all actions stem, whether good or evil. If the heart is good then the actions will be good and if the heart is corrupt then the actions will be bad. The heart is the place where Allah scans, as the Messenger of Allah - SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam - says, “Allah does not look at your bodies nor your faces but he scans your heart and actions.” - Sahih al-Muslim [4/6221]

@zaynab1 To be quite honest with you Islam has always had its rough and hard times since the times of the prophets. We have enough materials E.g Quran, Hadeeth, dua`s etc etc for us to be able to follow our deen to the best of standards. To those who wish on giving islam a bad name, leave them to allah. The most important thing is you stay true to your religion and speak well of it and let yourself be a good example and inshallah allah will reward you. Continue on sharing your knowledge about our religion so inshallah people see the beauty of it.

But lives are being lost. Babies are burning. Women and children are dying because of misplaced beliefs. Everyday knowingly and unknowingly car bombing, assasinations, rape, kidnapping, torture, extremism. It's disheartening!

How are we going to stop the horror in that? Me being a practicing muslim is good if I am devoted. But I think we have an obligation to help those that are in need of understanding. If the terrorist had a better understanding then I think a lot of the episodes of it will stop. If the nonmuslims had a better understanding than I think we both can work together on minimizing the damages of people who think like the terrorist do. What can we do. Being a good muslim does not seem like it is enough

I know exactly what you are talking about and it is sad. All of this is a sign of the Qiyyamah also. There is very little we can do, all of the wars that are happening.. And as a result innocent people are dying. What can we do? Who will listen? These Muslims who claim that suicide bombing is ok? Well they have been led astray by false information. All of these shia`s and others that believe in pain etc I think this is wrong.

Truth is sister, we can’t do anything apart from make dua that allah will put them on the straight path and protect the innocent inshallah. If everyone had a choice than yes we would do our best but what is their to do. We ourselves practise our deen the right way and share our knowledge to others so they do not result to such behaviour and inshallah we can reduce the name of islam being spoken about so badly.

WA alaykum Salam. This ummah starts within all of us. So each one of us needs to start within ourselves. Do your part as a Muslim. With you , your family, dawah. , the community and so on. The strength in all of us as 1. 1 human kind 1 land and 1 time to understand. Unfortunately we probably will never be able to control what people think of Islam or be able to control what others do.
