@ Blessed Believers First, allow me to lay a foundation that is very pertinent to the question I asked, and we believers must have a firm understanding of. 1)Ta'teel- Denying the attributes of Allah 2)Tahreef- Changing the original meaning of the attributes 3)Tamthil- Likening these attributes to those of the creaton 4)Takyif- Or enguireing into their true nature 5)Tashbih- Attributing Allah to creation 6)Ta'wil- Figutive interpertation

After the Rasul sws returned to Allah swt and after the time of the Salaf, the "Istinbat" derivation of the "Ahkams" legal rulings of the shari'a, fell to the personal effort of the kalaf through legal reasoning "Ijtihad." The scholars of Ahlul Sunnah Wal Ja'maat says that Ijtihad has its object the attainment of knowledge which in turn pertians to three areas: 1)Aqa'id- Touching on doctrines and beliefs 2)Ibadat- Concerning forms of worship and how they are to be done 3)Mu'amalat- Pertaining to the affairs of men

Inshallah, we will deal with the first of the three... TAJSIM: ANTHROPOMORPHISM, which means; "The act of giving human characteristic to the creator." There are some scholars from among the kalaf of the past that had made statements and or rulings that Allah's hand, foot and shin are literal, not figurative or metaphorical, and that he is on his throne in person (bi al-dhat). Ibn Al Jawzi said in his day in DAF SHUBAH AL-TASHBIH PAGE 100-101: "They refuse to construe hand as meaning favor and power... Instead they said: We construe them in their customary external senses, and the external sense is what is describable in terms of well known human characteristics, and a text is only construed literally if the literal sense is feasible. Then they become vexed when imputed with Tashbih (likening Allah to his creation) and they express scorn at such an attribution to themselves, clamoring: We are Ahlul sunna! Yet their discourse is clearly couched in terms of Tashbih. AND SOME OF THE MASSES FOLLOW THEM." Now for the statement above the throne, this is due to schools of thought, but the question is did the Rasul sws teach this? Al-Kirmani(d786) in FATH AL-BARI 13:412, SAID: " The external meaning of fi al sama ( In the heavens) is not meant in the Rasul sws hadeeth: " Do you not trust me who am trusted by the One FI SAMA, IN HEAVEN," for Allah is transcendent above incarnation in a place, but because direction of elevation is nobeler than any other direction, Allah predicated it to Himself to indicate the loftiness of His essence and attributes." This statement sitting on the throne is pure Tajsim and to give Allah a directon, as being above the throne, is the same, the Amr (authority and command ) of Allah is established on and above the throne. We must be careful of this, for there are Shaykhs that promotes this veiw, such as, Uthaymin in his book aqidat al muslim translated as "THE MUSLIM'S BELIEF" ON PAGE 11 SECOND EDITION, it states,"Allah's establish on the throne means that He is sitting in person on His throne." Is this the teaching of the Rasul sws or the salaf? There is a hadeeth Qudsi that states the Rasul sws said that Allah said," The heavens and the earth cannot contain me, but I dwell in the heart of every sincere believer...." Please keep in mind what Allah azza wal jall stated in the Qur'an, " Allah is the creator of the heavens and the earth: He has made for you pairs foorm among yoursleves,an pair among cattle: By this means does He Multiplly you: THERE IS NOTHING WHATSOEVER LIKE UNTO HIM,AND HE IS THE ONE THAT HEARS AND SEES ALL THINGS." ALLAH IS AKBAR!

beloved brother ..I always recommend you to put proper authentic hadith as proofs(like u posted this one)--> "There is a hadeeth Qudsi that states the Rasul sws said that Allah said," The heavens and the earth cannot contain me, but I dwell in the heart of every sincere believer...."

I gave you authentic proofs regarding where ALLAH is..with the latter part of sayings of the khalifa too..!

and lastly brother try to write answers yourself or edit it before posting as an answer..!

Beloved sister,I truly understand that you gave proofs, but we must keep in mind that everyone has proof, even those we deem as deviants not saying that you are. This topic has been a part of the debates of the kalaf, and those who took the position of Tajsim, though you used Abu Bakr as proof, the strongest proof is that he nor any of the salaf were Tajsim,I could go further into this topic if need be.And sister I did write the answer myself I just quoted from different sources, but I thankyou for your advice.May Allah reward you.

Allah, the Exalted, has described Himself in His Book, and by the tongue of His Messenger sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam as Sublime, Supreme, and Lofty. The Qur'an is full of proofs relevant to the Loftiness of Allah.

Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah believe in and confirm all of the attributes of Allah without distorting their meaning, and that Allah is above His seven heavens, above His 'Arsh, and separated from His creatures, and His creatures are separated from Him.

If you want to put Allah in the domain of direction and space , then tell me where was Allah when the space and time and directions were not created ? Or Do they co-exist with Allah ? Offcourse not because except Allah everything which exist is a creation..... so where is the creator when there was nothing created ?

"And when Allah said: 'O Jesus! I will take you and raise you to Myself'."[3:55] "To Him ascend (all) the goodly words, and the righteous deeds lift them."[35:10] "From Allah, the Lord of the Places of Ascent, the angels and the Ruh (Gabriel) ascend to Him in a day the measure whereof is of fifty thousand years."[70:3-4]

Abu Hurairah narrates that the Messenger said, "Whoever donates the equal of a date from whatever was collected righteously, and only good is ascended to Allah, then, He will accept it (the charity) with His Right and raise it for its giver till it becomes like a mountain." [Bukhari] More clear: Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Al-As related that the Messenger said, "Allah grants mercy to the merciful. Be merciful to those who are on the earth, (then) He Who is fis-Sama (above the heavens) will be merciful to you." [Abu Dawood & At-Tirmidhi]  Even more clearer: Jabir ibn Abdillah said: "The Messenger of Allah said in his speech on the day of Arafah: 'Did I convey (the Message).' They said: 'Yes.' While raising his finger to the sky and then pointing at them, he said: 'O my Lord, be a witness." [Muslim]  And the Muslims of today have the audacity to say that Allah is everywhere when their own Messenger pointed nowhere except to the sky above him in this clear hadith. I ask you, O Muslims, if you were to sit in front of me and I were to refer to you, would not I point directly to you and NOT the ground or to the sky to do so? So, why is it then when the Prophet points to the sky above him to refer to Allah we do not understand from this that Allah was above him, is above you and all his creations? Why do we wonder any more? Finally, justice cannot be done to this topic without mentioning the hadith about the slave-girl, whose faith was affirmed by just two questions, one being 'Where is Allah?': Muawiyah bin Al-Hakam As-Salmi said:  "I had a slave-girl who used to herd sheep for me. One day I discovered that a wolf had killed one of her sheep, and I'm a man from the children of Adam, I get upset like they get upset, and I slapped her in the face. Then I went to the Prophet who impressed upon me the seriousness of my act. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, should I not set her free?' He said, 'Bring her to me.' He asked her, 'Where is Allah', She said, 'He is above the heavens.' He said, 'Who am I?' She said, 'You are the Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Free her, for she is a believer.' (Muslim and Abu Dawud)

Allah is the most good and never performs deception. Are there muslim scholars who agree that Jesus christ is something more than a mere prophet?

If there are scholars who say this they are commiting shirk and bidah (innovation).

(May 09 '13 at 21:52) sadie ♦ sadie's gravatar image

Sadie this position is correct and the worst matters in Islam are newly invented matters, may Allah protect us from misguidance.

(May 10 '13 at 01:30) yaqin ♦ yaqin's gravatar image

proof from QURAN : "Do you feel secure that He, Who is fis-sama (above the heavens), will not cause the earth to sink…Or do you feel secure that He, Who is fis-sama (above the heavens) will not send against you a violent whirlwind?" [67:16-17]

proof from HADITH : 1] Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Al-As related that the Messenger said, "Allah grants mercy to the merciful. Be merciful to those who are on the earth, (then) He Who is fis-Sama (above the heavens) will be merciful to you." [Abu Dawood & At-Tirmidhi]

proof from first KHALIFA: Abu Bakr As-Sideeq said: "Whoever worshipped Mohammed, Mohammed has died. Whoever worshipped Allah, Allah is Alive fis-Sama (above the heavens), and death does not touch Him." [Ad-Darimi in Ar-Radd 'Alal-Jahmiyyah].

BELOVED brother, these proofs clearly show that ALLAH is above the heavens and on his throne..!

THE ONE WHO DENIES THAT ALLAH ISNT ABOVE THE HEAVENS : "Whoever does not affirm that Allah is above His heavens, upon His Throne and that He is distinct from His creation; must be forced to repent. If he does not repent, then he must be beheaded and then thrown into a garbage dump, so that the Muslims and the Ahl-Dhimma (the Christians and the Jew) will not suffer from his stinking smell." [Al-Hakim in Al-Marifah].

kindly comment if you still have doubts or you can accept/vote my answer :)

Beloved sister, are you saying that Allah is on the throne meaning sitting and fis sama means above the heavens?

(May 10 '13 at 14:45) yaqin ♦ yaqin's gravatar image

beloved brother I am not saying this..!! It is ALLAH himself who says it in the Quran that HE is at the fis sama(above the heavens), on his throne..! and I already gave you authentic prrofs regarding it :)

(May 11 '13 at 08:43) aaliya ♦ aaliya's gravatar image

Thanks for the verses and ahadith but It is not written any where is Quran that a person who does not repent must be beheaded and thrown in garbage dump. Such type of statements are against the spirit of Islam and create a very negative image of Islam of Muslims

my question is...Is there a place where Allah is not found? no matter what a person goes through in this life Allah is there..just a heartbeat away..whether its a mother giving birth,a person grieving a lost loved one..a person who is ill or someone who is elated upon hearing great news or sad from hearing bad news... there isnt a place that Allah doesn't exist..even in the lowest of places.Allah created everything .sorry.. I have no intelligent quotes or verses to site..this was just what was in my heart.
