As-salamu 'alaikum. Islam allows its followers to keep dogs only for the sake of hunting, guarding livestock and guarding crops. If someone keeps dogs for no important cause, he loses one or two qiraats from his hasanaat (good deeds) each day. Narrated from Abu Hurayrah (May Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: “Whoever keeps a dog, except a dog for herding, hunting or farming, one qiraat will be deducted from his reward each day.” ( Muslim, 1575) Narrated ‘Abdullah bin Umar (May Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Prophet (Peace be upon him) saying, “If someone keeps a dog neither for hunting, nor for guarding livestock, the reward (for his good deeds) will be reduced by two Qirats per day.” (Volume 7, Book 67, Number 390: Sahih Bukhari) If you keep dogs, Najaasah (impurity) will be a big problem. A vessel from which a dog has drunk can only be purified by throwing away the remaining contents and then cleaning the vessel with soil once and pure water seven times. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (May Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: “The purification of the vessel of one of you, if a dog licks it, is to wash it seven times, the first time with soil.” (Sahih Muslim, 279.) Also, Angels do not enter a house which has dogs or pictures. Narrated Abu Talha (May Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, “Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or there are pictures.” (Volume 7, Book 72, Number 833: Sahih Bukhari) So, to sum up, keeping a pet dog for no important reason is forbidden in Islam, as it does more harm than good. And Allah knows the best!

Islam says that we must not keep a dog without any important and strong reason you can keep it for hunting guarding livestock logically it is very clear that if we keep a dog we give it time which is totally wastage of time you can give that time to your family children and do the worship instead of spending that time with dog so what is better taking care of your family worship or dog
