I was going around YouTube the other day and I went across a christian women preaching that women should cover her hair at all times even though some only do in church and then she put on her hair covering to show us, it looked very similar to the Hijab, and I know some of you interpret the Bible differently and I was wondering if you guys believe in covering your hair? she said something about it being in corithians 11 and she also said that she believes Sarah and Rebeka wore it and that there are many christian paintings illustrating women in head coverings.

here it is!

Umm Salamah (a woman of the Sahaba, may Allah be pleased with her) asked, "What should women do with their garments?" The Prophet sallalahu alahi wa salaam said: "They should lower their garments a hand span," (half their shins down). Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) further said, "Women's feet would still be uncovered." Allah's Messenger sallalhu alahi wa salaam replied: "Let them lower them a forearm's length, but not longer." (At-Tirmidhi)

Some denominations teach that a woman's head should be covered, that they should wear there hair long, and that they should not wear jewelry. This is all mentioned by Paul in the new testament as things that he would like to see done. This is adiaphora, that means those Christian teachings which are neutral, things that are neither commanded by God nor forbidden by Him in Scripture. The real question here is What is a woman doing preaching**, that is not adiaphora, Paul refers to the order of creation in his epistle to Timothy when he discusses the relationship between men and women in the church context.
"But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but remain quiet. For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being quite deceived, fell into transgression," (1 Tim. 2:12-14. I realize that this is a little more than you ask for but it bothers me a great deal. I consider it a wink toward feminism and those that want to be politically correct, they would turn the christian religion into nothing more than a social movement.

why wouldnt a women be able to teach she was created after adam but she was created from him also so wouldnt she have some of the knowldge a man has a women came from a man so we should be similar and equal since we were created from the same substance in islam you may teach but a women shouldnt teach a man not because a man has more knowldge over a women but that it would be inapproprite to stay together with no one else but in a mosque a women may speak snd teach the fellow women but the man is the one that says the lecture so men and women may gain knowldge because he may speak and present himself to men and women since womens minds are different they do not get attracted as easily as a man does so we can look and listen but a man is attracted easily so she cant speak and stand in front so they wont be lusting over her in islam every rule comes with a reasoning to help protect people but what sort of protectment is not allowing a women leacture or give a story in church

I guess I wasn't clear. Women are not to teach adult men, the same as you say that women cannot lecture men in a mosque. They can be school teachers, they can teach each other. But it is inappropriate for a woman to lead a man. Men are to be the spiritual leaders, and head of there family. Men and women are considered equal, but God has given each different gifts. I am not sure how to put this into a question.

I am muslim but I was raised christian and in churches for 27 years. The bible, old test did teach modesty and covering their charms and protecting their image and virtru. I don't and have never thought God changed his mind on dress codes, prayers to God only or what we r and r not allowed to eat. It was some of the reasons it was easy to convert to islam.

Not all Christian women cover their hair in or out of church. This idea comes from the New Testament 1 Corinthians 11:6 which says

If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head.

Some Christians take this to mean that a woman should always cover her head. But when it is looked at in it's whole context, 1 Corinthians 11:3-16 says:

3 But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. 4 Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. 5 But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is the same as having her head shaved. 6 For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head.

7 A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. 8 For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; 9 neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. 10 It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own head, because of the angels. 11 Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. 12 For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.

13 Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? 14 Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, 15 but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering. 16 If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice—nor do the churches of God.

Many Christians take this to mean a woman's long hair provides her covering. Many believe the man is her covering as they believe Jesus is man's covering. The purpose of the scripture is to show that men and women have different roles and a woman must make her role apparent when she prays or prophecies.

Under Jewish Law a married woman is supposed to cover her head. Christianity teaches that Christians are not under the Law and are free to do whatever they believe to be right by God. In the U.S., most Christian woman do not cover their heads.
