OK. so every Friday me and my family go to visit my dads family and i have a bunch of aunts and what not. i always help them in the kitchen and cleaning up after words. at first i was honestly just doing it to help them but then they started complementing me and saying how helpful i was. im not going to lie and say i dont like hearing it. but does that mean that my intention has changed? i still want to help them but now im confused where or not im trying to help them or be praised. n yes. ive asked my islamic teacher this b4. but she hasnt really given me a straight answer. so thats why im asking. and i think its very relevant :p

The question has been closed for the following reason "cannot get to my right answer without knowing my intention" by a_mohammed Jun 25 '13 at 04:59

Only you (and Allah) can know if your intention has changed.

I think that whenever you do a good deed (for anyone and not just for your aunts) you should first thank Allah for giving you the motivation to do the deed, and the means to carry it out.

Next, you should feel good that you have done the deed. It is likely (I think) that the feeling itself is a gift from Allah; a reward, if you like, for what you have done.

And when your aunts praise you: there’s nothing wrong with that; and you would be less than human not to be pleased by it!

They praise you because they feel good. Everybody gains.

Whatever you do, above all else, do it with the intention of pleasing Allah. There is no better intention.

ALWAYS CHECK YOUR INTENTION BEFORE DOING THINGS.IF YOU SEE THAT IT IS NOT FOR ALLAH SUBHANA WAT'ALA THEN CHANGE IT TO IT. Because ALLAH SUBHANA WAT'ALA ONLY REWARD DEEDS DONE BECAUSE OF HIM. e.g IF YOU ARE ASKED why do you eat AND You see that it is not for GOD THEN HAVE THIS INTENTION THAT <I AM EATIING SO THAT ALLAH SUBHANA WAT'ALA CAN BLESS THE FOOD AND MAKE ME HAVE THE ABILITY TO PERFORM SALAT AND OTHER ISLAMIC DEEDS.
