It is a fact that if the Messenger saws had the resources that we have today that it wouldn't be a starving human on the planet inshallah. why is it that with the resources we have today and the money Allah has blessed the ummah with why there are starving muslims and people a few hundred miles from them and the powers that be can be in these places within hours if not minutes. Are these people Muslims?

no one cares about anyone else anymore. thats why. no one is willing to do that extra mile for those who dont have anything. we have grown weak and selfish. thats why.

I see that this topic has been looked over by all accept the sister, may Allah bless her for her concern, this topic is very serious, especially in light of what has been reported by Abu Hurayrah that the Rasul saws has said, " If a believer goes to bed with his belly full and his neighbor goes to bed with his belly empty, he is a disbeliever." Do we not remember the prostitute that was granted paradise for giving a thirsty dog water from a well, how much more would the Ummah of the Rasul saws would get for feeding the hungry with the provisions given to the Muslim ummah by Allah? It is a sad day for the Muslim when christian missionaries are converting Muslims with food, where are the Muslims missionaries? We have the right guidance, so where are the guided? Do we not know that we will be questioned on the day in which there is no doubt about how we spent our wealth? Any wealth that is not spent in the cause of Allah is not wealth at all for it maybe the weight that will land you in hell fire. I seek refuge with Allah from that! How is it that skyscrapers are being built in the desert and palaces are built to house Kings and princes under the banner of Islam, which is haram, and Muslims are riding in the desert in Rolls Royces and sports cars, when right across the Red Sea Muslims are starving to death by the millions? How is it that a American actor risk his life going there to feed the Muslims and the Muslims that are there that has the means to help don't? In the life time of the Rasul saws if he had the wealth that the Muslim has today and the means to reach any part of the planet in hours there would not be a starving human being on the planet. So now I must ask, who's sunnah is being followed when it comes to this situation? This site is the perfect forum to launch a Islamic movement to remove hunger from the four corner's of the earth tapping into the wealth that has been given from Allah to the Muslim Ummah. It is a sin for any Muslim to sit around and watch this go on and not to say nothing, for when the wrath of Allah falls on those responsible it will also fall on those who did nothing to bring about change. If any reading this have any ideas then hit me on the email on the other site and let me know but i ask if you do be ready to do something about this for the cause of Allah. I pray Allah will grant us the means to make a change on this planet in the name of Allah. salaam

Salaam brother Yaqin, How would you go about launching this campaign to help alleviate hunger? You say, to remove hunger but to remove it completely would surely have to be a united world effort. Also, can one not make an individual effort in different ways? No, we should not turn our heads but what more than individual charity can we do? Salaam

(Nov 30 '13 at 03:22) stronghold ♦ stronghold's gravatar image

@stronghold what I suggest is that muslims worldwide pertition the islamic countries that are benefitting from the blessing from Allah in oil revenue. This is the duty of the khalifahs of the earth. Yes individual effort is fine but what is needed is a serious joint effort from the fortunate for the misfortunate. Allah has told us that paradise is for those who spends in Allah's cause in prosperity and adversity. (3:133-134) We as muslims are equally wrong if we don't enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil. Keep in mind the hadith I qouted up above. It clearly says who are disbelievers.

Dear brother, I spent several years working in Dubai and the excesses which I saw were way beyond what I envisaged to find in any country. The Emirates take good care of their own and ensure extremely high living standards but in the same vein, I hear that they are comitted to charitable causes and donate generously. I don't however see the opulent lifestyles as those which build pious nations. A worldwide pertition is something that was to my knowledge never done before but a workable possibility. Are you suggesting a worlwid pertition from this website?

It can be done and should be done the work the brother is doing in syria is great work but he needs help as other people not just Muslims need help also. I'm open to any all suggestings dealing with this cause. Thank you beloved salaam

Salam, Some muslim does allow hungry in this earth because the are busy with their life they are deep thinking of their self and family but not all of them the same. We should all of us stand up with our leg and help theses muslim in the streets, cloth the unclothed muslim, feed the hunger muslim and so much more. This world and this time is the only time we can help each other and help the poor because......

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once had several coins that he asked his wife to distribute in charity. But due to the Prophet's illness at the time, she did not have an opportunity to give out the coins. When the Prophet learned of this, he asked for the coins, placed them in his hand, and then said: "What would God's Prophet think if he were to meet God, who is Great and Glorious, while (still) possessing these?" - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 586

The Prophet also said: "Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 589

THE IMPORTANCE OF CHARITY The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 604

The Prophet also said: "Every act of goodness is charity." - Sahih Muslim, Hadith 496

EVERY MUSLIM MUST GIVE IN CHARITY The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Every Muslim has to give in charity." The people then asked: "(But what) if someone has nothing to give, what should he do?" The Prophet replied: "He should work with his hands and benefit himself and also give in charity (from what he earns)." The people further asked: "If he cannot find even that?" He replied: "He should help the needy who appeal for help." Then the people asked: "If he cannot do (even) that?" The Prophet said finally: "Then he should perform good deeds and keep away from evil deeds, and that will be regarded as charitable deeds." - Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 2, Hadith 524

SMILING IS CHARITY The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Charity is prescribed for each descendant of Adam every day the sun rises." He was then asked: "From what do we give charity every day?" The Prophet answered: "The doors of goodness are many...enjoining good, forbidding evil, removing harm from the road, listening to the deaf, leading the blind, guiding one to the object of his need, hurrying with the strength of one's legs to one in sorrow who is asking for help, and supporting the feeble with the strength of one's arms--all of these are charity prescribed for you." He also said: "Your smile for your brother is charity." - Fiqh-us-Sunnah, Volume 3, Number 98

SPEND IN CHARITY "Spend (in charity) out of the sustenance that We have bestowed on you before that time when death will come to someone, and he shall say: "O my Lord! If only you would grant me reprieve for a little while, then I would give in charity, and be among the righteous." - The Holy Quran, 63:10

Asalaam o alaikum, brothers and sisters, this is a topic dear to my heart.

I have a very close family friend, currently in Syria, feeding, clothing and providing medical aids. He is a courageous man, with a heart that has dreamt of helping people for a very long time, locally or in war torn areas. He only started his charity a few months ago. And by the grace of Allah, money just flooded in by the shed load. Many people denoted big sums in such a short time, that this man has now been several times to take vans with huge amounts of supplies, first by road, now by plane. This is the mercy that Allah shows, if it is in the heart to do good then good will come.

So the lesson here is to firstly, start up a charity, go out and let the people know what you are doing, by holding events or just talks. Then the fund raising begins. It seems a very simple act and mission to start up. But it has to be registered at some point and for it to be a recognised plight, to enable the Government to assist, via visas, etc. Also it helps to know others who are in the charity organisations, to gain advice and direction as whats best to do.

This charity is ANO, with facebook, website and youtube clips. All this internet advertisement helps for people to see what he is doing. Aid for the Neddy and Oppressed, visit youtube and see what he is doing and the people he meets.

Allah, as we know, could well provide for us all, but He does not. In this is a lesson for all mankind. To give charity, to feel sympathy, to give thanks, to ask for mercy, to ask for relief. Allah makes these situations for us to give out of what we have. If we were all the same, fed well, we would not have hearts of emotion of tenderness towards each other. Allah is wise and all knowing, far beyond our capacity to understand all the reasons why.

As a women, I would love to go to Syria to help. It seems though at this moment in time, men are the ones taking on this task. We women should also go, and inshaAllah, I too will be able to go.

If help, and an organisation is to happen, say on this site, as an advertising agent, to forward people on to another site to give generously, then so be it. Try A.N.O. ............. AND TAKE A LOOK AND CONTACT UMAR TO GIVE MONEY OR ASK FOR ADVICE ON STARTING UP A CHARITY.( Remember, Umar is currently in Syria)

Salaam sister, May Alah bless Umar and anyone who is assisting in any way, yourself and your family included. What about organisations such as Muslim Aid and Human Appeal International? They also have a targeted Syria donation.I agree with you that it could work to set up advertising on this site to urge donating to an already established organisation as that way we are saving time and cost which is otherwise required to set up a charity.

(Nov 30 '13 at 04:24) stronghold ♦ stronghold's gravatar image

Charities, do not require money to set up. Its about word of mouth, and blind faith. If you truly put your trust in Allah, anything is possible. I know this may sound naive, but it is so true. These large charity organisations are all well and good, but do we really know where the money is going to???. This is why my brother Umar set up his charity, and goes out personally to deliver the aid, and shows people exactly what he is doing. This is the difference. It takes a real good person with a sound and honest heart to do this. Can organisations do this. A charity has to start some where.

(Nov 30 '13 at 14:32) abyadgirl abyadgirl's gravatar image

Also, for help to come in and go out, it has to be seen to be done. The Masjids have played a large role in this effort. Being the collection and drop off points for aid of all types. When it is visable, this is when people want to step in and do what they can, like supply boxes to package up the goods, even the vans were donated free as a gift. Then clothes came in, in their masses, toys, and even medical aids were donated. Truly, it is muslim working with muslim. And to give to a muslim is better than to give to a non muslim.

(Nov 30 '13 at 14:38) abyadgirl abyadgirl's gravatar image

All that you said makes sense. Let us do what we can and Allah subhanahu wa Ta'ala is our helper. Yaqin is getting in touch with asif. He will be getting in touch with us, and insha'Allah, we will do this. Salaam

(Nov 30 '13 at 17:26) stronghold ♦ stronghold's gravatar image

Brother Yaqin, sister Abyadgirl, any further developments in regards to donating via this site or can we provide brother Umar's details so that all goes direct to his charity work? We should take this humble mission of ours to the community site, with updates on what we are doing and progress but also leave some clear marker on this site so that others are aware and help and support in whatever way they can. Salaam

(Dec 02 '13 at 02:20) stronghold ♦ stronghold's gravatar image

Your thoughts and thoughts and ideas from any other brothers and sisters are needed. As brother Faisal said, " Worse is to come." Whatever we do will keep benefitting those in need of the present and of the future times. Salaam

(Dec 02 '13 at 02:23) stronghold ♦ stronghold's gravatar image

@stronghold, this is a good idea, about putting up notable charities, and leaving a marker, on this site, be it on the top and in the community section.I will go into the community site and put all the links to the A.N.O Charity, so people can see for them selves the work he is doing, and to be able to contact Umar. He is currently now trying to buy land in Syria, to set up a madrasa, and facilities for the children, whom he is finding are the most neglected. Any more ideas would be most needed, even to support others. But as i know this man, and his heart, this is a good starting point.

answered 23428 Faisal26's gravatar image

@faisal your words are the haqq for the Rasul saws has told us of the times you speak of and we know he spoke the truth for we see it with our own eyes today. With that said, we must still push to do what is right. We must become the small group that the quran speaks about that enjoins the good and forbid the evil. This tragedy the muslim ummah can contribute volumes too, for the ummah has the money. The problem is that the wealth of the ummah has been hijacked and personalized for a certain group. Islam is a brotherhood and we are not believers until we want for our brother what we want for

anyway, he gave the software to the world food program. and for every answer you get right they donate rice, not much like six grains, but it adds up. and it really doesn't cost you anything, infact you may learn something. the vocab gets pretty tough at the upper levels.
