My interest for islam began when I was 13 and ever since then I have been practising full hijaab (jilbab, hijaab, no make up) alhamdulillah, however when I am in school I cannot wear my jilbab so I must wear trousers. After lots of research and looking into the opinions of the ulema, I feel that it is not right for me to wear trousers because of how it shows the shape of a womans thighs and how it also is the clothing of the kaafir women. It also resembles the clothing of men. So I recently told the school I will be wearing a long skirt with no pleats or patterns, just plain. I didn't get an answer from the school so since I am in my final year of high school I will be just wearing my skirt to school. My question is: can I get some advice on practicing islam and hijaab in school and what should I do if my school decide that I can't wear my skirt? Moving schools is not an option:( also, can I maybe get some daleel to support my desire to wear full hijaab in school so that I can show my school teachers. JazakAllah khair

Assalamu alaikum,

I thought I'd already answered this question...but my answer hasn't appeared.

Masha'allah, don't give up, it is ridiculous for them to not allow you to adhere to an Islamic Dress Code.

The proof for hijaab (headscarf and jilbaab):

Surah Ahzab, Ayah 59:

"O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful."

The word for "outer garments" is "jalabeeb" plural of "jilbaab".

The Prophet (SAW) said to those women who did not have a jilbaab: "Let her borrow one from her sister." i.e. it is NOT OPTIONAL.

The only scholars who deny the ruling are non-orthodox ones who have sprung up in the last 20 years. The four major schools of thought all agree on the ruling.

To clarify, the jilbaab is one, loose, outer garment, which is worn with a headscarf; together, they must cover everything save the face and hands.

And Allah knows best. I hope you succeed.

Wassalam,

Reni

As salaamu Alaikum, I think you should tell the school that wearing these kind of clothes are against our religion. I know this is very little info but I think it will work.
