In the 33rd chapter it calls Muhammad the model to follow and it has been widely believed that he was the best human being ever to live. People who kill say they're following his example and so are people who want peace amongst everyone says the same thing. Who really is following his example?

Salam Brother,

The Qur’an makes it clear:

‘…….that no soul shall bear the burden (sins) of another; that man will have only what he has worked towards; that his labour will be seen and that in the end he will be repaid in full for it……’ (Al-Najm:38-41)

The message is simple:

We alone are accountable for our actions. Not our parents; not our children; not the world at large. Just us: just you and me.

Take a look in a mirror. If the person you see is acting according to the will of Allah (Subhana wa Tal'la) then that is sufficient. If not, then hasten to repentance and a change of behaviour.

And may Allah (Subhana wa Tal'la) guide and protect you.

paul i think you missed his question. i think he is more saying what is the example you want him to follow. muhammad was a warrior, so you have people waging war and saying they are the one's following the prophet's example. al-zawahari has a pray mark on his forehead and he says he is following muhammad's example. you have high ranking clerics, imans, muftis, ayatollahs etc throught the world giving conflicting advice as to how best follow the example of the prophet. why did god make this so confusing?

If you ask one side why must you wage war against people who don't believe they will tell you it is of Muhammad's example. If you ask the other side if we must live in peace amongst each other and they will tell you because it is of Muhammad's example.

You know countries or groups who arms them self and goes to war, they are really living in the Stone Age. For now humans have gotten smarter, so they should understand that this ain´t bringing good. Friends are what everyone should be, forgive your enemies and move on..

CS, i had a whole thing typed out and my computer crashed. to lazy to re-type. it's simple, muhammad was peaceful when it suited his purposses, and a warrior when it suited his purposses. as his power grew he leaned more towards war then peace. few followers, peaceful. more followers, willing to die for him, warring. wins the battle of badr and things change.

(Sep 04 '13 at 18:12) abul rauf abul%20rauf's gravatar image

I also believe and Muhammad's actions seemed self serving and to fufill his own agenda but when should peaceful muslims war and when should warring muslims be peaceful

(Sep 04 '13 at 18:51) Confused Soul Confused%20Soul's gravatar image

Peaceful Muslims should tell warring Muslims to join their enemies to become friends. And warring Muslims should listen.

Okay lets get a couple things straight. Muhammad sallallahu allahi WA Salam was a messenger of Allah. Just like Jesus allahi Salam ,Moses allahi Salam and Abraham allahi Salam. Would you ever say such horrible accusations about them?!? If yes then truly you don't belong here. Secondly any prophet or messanger did not do anything to fill their own wants and desires. They did the things they were commanded to do by the almighty. No one died for another man. This isn't right . Wage war happens every where and America is known for it. But because they " do it for the country" there is nothing

Wrong with killing millions and millions of people? What is wrong with you people. ? Truly brainwashed and so far from truth.

(Sep 05 '13 at 01:52) sadie ♦ sadie's gravatar image

if you are to believe the bible moses was one of the most brutal mass killers of all time. he commited genocide. whipped out entire tribes, including women and children. sadie you really need to read your old testement.

CS, when to go to war? the $64 guestion. as for america, right now we are debating going to war with syria. we will as it is to enforce international law. or to protect civilians. sadie may say it is our bloodlust to kill muslims and inclined2truth may say it is at the behest of the zionist. lots of theories abound. so what war are you considering joining?

(Sep 05 '13 at 08:43) abul rauf abul%20rauf's gravatar image

sadie, what do you think america should have done in ww1 or 2? korea? i think vietman was a bad decision, shouldn't have gone to war there. are there any battles that muhammad fought that were bad ideas ro not for self gain? so why does muhammad take the lion's share of war booty, if he is selfless in his actions? did he not say it is alright to kill women and children?

when you are done with yaqin's book maybe you should read this one.

yaqin, you mentioned phrophets waging war at the behest of allah. so what do you think about moses' treatment of the midianites after allah gave him victory? killed all men, women and children other than the virgin girls. old men, small boys, mothers, all ordered killed by allah. he would be a war criminal by modern standards. yes, all wars are brutal, but most especially those conducted by allah's prophets.

Prophet Muhammad pbuh was known before his prophecy and was called the truthful the trustful. He was among the rich family of Qoraysh who live in Makah and in service of the kaaba(house of Allah since the time of Ibrahim and Ismail, pbuh).

after prophecy the people of Makah were punishing anyone who convert to Islam.. that is why prophet Muhammad advice the first muslims to immigrate to habasha were there is a chrsitian king who is just/fair and nobody will be injusted at him. (prophet Muhammad at that time was protected by some members of his family.. but after they died.. the disbelievers wanted to kill him so he and his friend immigrated to medina were many muslims already immigrated before him and the people of Medina welcomed him and the muslims.. and from medina he started to spread Islam. so he beated all the enemies of islam who wanted to kill/finish Islam.. and get use to fight with his sword in the path of Allah, hero and a brave heart salla Allahou alayhi wa sallam. He overcomed all his enemies and send messages to the all kings/kingdom in the world introducing/presenting/informing them about Islam. he also made peace/truce with the people.. and since then and Islam is existing and spreading all over the world/time. he is indeed the greatest man in the history ever.(salla Allahou 3alayhi wa sallam)

Assalamu alaikum,

Firstly, the answer to your question depends on what you mean by "people who kill" and "people who want peace".

If by "people you kill" you mean oppressive tyrants like Bashar Al-Asad who have committed mass murder, who have completely wrecked their responsibility to care for their people, who have driven civilians from their homes and ruined lives once full of hope and promise, and still claim to be Muslim - astaghfirullah, we cannot possibly compare him to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), the best of all creation, the man who was sent as a mercy to mankind.

However, if by "people you kill" you mean those who fight against this tyrant in defense of what is right, in defense of their lives, and for the cause of Allah...

The Prophet (SAW) valued peace. He would always attempt the peaceful means first. When he and his companions were tortured and abused, he never lifted his hands except to pray to Allah. When bringing new lands under the Islamic State, he always attempted a peaceful means first. The very definition of Islam is "peace". But, when peaceful means failed, he did use his army - NOT in the way the West does, but with strict commands that civilians remain unharmed, that places of worship be respected, that burning of crops and houses was forbidden, and that the fighting was not for land or power or wealth, but for Allah and Paradise. There would be no bombs falling from the air, but soldiers facing soldiers.

Those fighting in Syria...do they really have any choice? If they lay down their weapons, they are not resorting to peace; rather, they are allowing a tyrant to force them to give up fighting for what is right.

As for those who believe in peace...why do you believe in peace? Is it truly because of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), or is it because it is the easy way out? For Paradise has been surrounded by struggle and suffering, and Hell by ease and luxury, and indeed this life is short, and its difficulties are temporary.

In conclusion...some of those who claim to be following the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) may intend to, but are going about in the wrong way. Some may not intend to, and are simply creating propaganda. And there are some who truly desire an Islamic State, after his example, and have EVERY intention of establishing it - they desire to fight only to defend the way of Allah.

And Allah knows best.

Wassalam,

Reni

so the muslims in the southern philipines who are fighting for an islamic state are following the example of muhammad. boko haram wants to establish an islamic state in northern nigeria. there was just an uprising in thailand by the muslims. JI in indonesia. the islamist in mali. islam4uk, anjem choundry, abu hamza, the islamic thinkers society of america are all/some following the example of the prophet?

so no killing civilians or burning of trees? you should read the 19th book of muslim. the hadiths say different.

so are you going to syria to fight?

(Sep 06 '13 at 12:02) abul rauf abul%20rauf's gravatar image

It is so simple as this: If people who does things like murder and call them self believers, then truly they are not believers. If they have had been believers, then they would have done another things like saving people... For when you believe in good, so should you do good things like peace of course.

As Salaamu alaykum, I have sat back and read all the post on this topic, and I must say that in any society that ever existed on this earth war was apart of it, and all war is brutal Mike. The problem you have due to your stance, which is your right, is when prophets wage war at the command of the Almighty. The Rasul saws was a kind and very understanding man, however, he was true to what he was commanded to do, for to do anything else, he would have been munafiq, I seek refuge with Allah from that, now what is called war in the name if islam today is rooted in wordly desires, and this seperates them from whom Allah azza wal jall has informed us is "US WATUM HASANAH," the best example to follow. Yes Islam is of peace and this peace is qoverned by Allah's book and the authenticated example of the Rasul saws, when that which has been sent down to govern the affairs of mankind is oppressed, for Allah has said that oppression is worst then slaughter, then one must take to war and that has rules islamically. It is reported by Abu Huriah that the Rasul saws said, " A believer must assist his brother when he is being oppressed and he must stop him when he is being the oppressor." This is a obligation, this basic concept shows clearly that those of this day and time are not following the example of the Rasul saws, though they say so with there mouths. What is in ones heart shows in their speech and actions. So to answer your question confused soul, when one does anything for the sake of Allah it also be done with the iteebah of the Rasul saws, meaning the way he did it or said to do it, and there is no compromise with that, anything else Iis from the waswas of the shaytan which is misguidance, and this misguidance comes in the form of supposedly learned people or outwardly pious but inwardly wicked peoplefor the Rasul saws has informed us in a hadith that belief and hypocrisy can exist at the sametime in the heart of men. None of these is an example of the Rasul saws. It is clear fir Allah has said in the Qur'an that among you is he who desires the wordly life and among you is ge who desires the hereafter. Which one of these two is following the example of the Rasul? If one is committing suicide by bombing himself claiming he us going to paradise, this must be shown in the sunnah and it isn't there, if one is being a tyrant and oppressing the people, this must be shown in the sunnah and it isn't there. If one is causing mischief on the earth, this must be shown in the sunnah, and it is nit there, and keep in mind any hadith that goes against the quran must be rejected.. salaam

yaqin, to say something was done because "god" commanded it, is not a reason, that is a believe, and that is your right, to believe in whatever god you choose and whatever prophets you choose. but to say your god is a dispenser of grace, the most merciful, when it is well established that he commanded his prophets to mercilussly kill women and children is a contradiction of truely biblical proportions.

so is the syrian regime oppressing the rebels or the rebels oppressing the regime? either way are you not obliged to fight on one side or the other? best git ur gun. a thing you may not like

(Sep 05 '13 at 10:37) abul rauf abul%20rauf's gravatar image

may be good for you, and a thing you like may be bad for you. something like that, you know the verse. 4th book? anyway, yaqin, what was the proper division of war booty during the time of muhammad.

Mike I didn't say God commanded the book says it, and yes the Almighty is merciful or the dispenser of grace as you say, however, we must not forget also that the Almighty is severe in punishment, so what you label as contradiction is do to you looking at one side,I did not expect you to grasp my answer due to you being bias, which is ok. I can't really speak on the syrian situation for I don't have the facts. I do my best not to speak from such a position. As far as the war booty goes the quran speaks on the khums, and that was for the family of the Rasul. Salaam

(Sep 05 '13 at 11:05) yaqin ♦ yaqin's gravatar image

yes i'm bias. bias towards logic. can one be both merciful and severe in punishment at the same time. well i guess technically he can show mercy to those who bow down and worship him, while being severe in punishment towards those don't. he can show mercy to one who has done great evil if that person dies a marytr. as we have established though there will be no mercy for good deeds without faith.

if islam was truely the religion of peace, shouldn't the highest house in the highest level of paradise be reserved for the peace makers. why is the highest level of heaven for the jihadist?

(Sep 05 '13 at 11:50) abul rauf abul%20rauf's gravatar image

oh yeah, fatami was given all the land of the one jewish tribe defeated by the muslims. then abu took it from her. must have been alot of land for a girl to have? yeah syrian is a serious pickle. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-23967567 saw a video the other day of refugees fleeing into turkey. they were begging for US help. hard to figure out what side to take. you and the other muslims can stay out of it. i think we should give air support to the FSA. they may have crazy jihadist amoung them but the assads have shown to be brutal. can't let chemical attacks stand anymore. peace right

sorry didn't fit in the comment section. wars today are for worldly things. right from the start someone wanted tax money and power over others. there is no compulsion in religion? so is this a unathentic hadith?

Narrated Abu Huraira: When the Prophet died and Abu Bakr became his successor and some of the Arabs reverted to disbelief, 'Umar said, "O Abu Bakr! How can you fight these people although Allah's Apostle said, 'I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, 'and whoever said, 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah', Allah will save his property and his life from me, unless (he does something for which he receives legal punishment) justly, and his account will be with Allah?' "Abu Bakr said, "By Allah! I will fight whoever differentiates between prayers and Zakat as Zakat is the right to be taken from property (according to Allah's Orders). By Allah! If they refused to pay me even a kid they used to pay to Allah's Apostle, I would fight with them for withholding it." 'Umar said, "By Allah: It was nothing, but I noticed that Allah opened Abu Bakr's chest towards the decision to fight, therefore I realized that his decision was right."

stop worrying about an example set 1400 years ago. follow your own example (unless you are a warmonger) of modern life. the geneva conventions, the UN declaration of human rights...etc.... do not celebrate dying for the afterlife, or for god.
