Well, it does make a difference. It makes a difference to the children's spiritual growth and understanding of Islam. Academic performance is important but not at the expense of knowing your deen. A teacher should be able to make continuous and regular reference to Islamic values so that the students make a connection between their daily life and deen. Also, an Islamic school will allocate time for prayers throughout the day and to the events within the Islamic calender throughout the year. The fact that a clean place is allocated especially for prayers is also significant. Learning Arabic and studying the Qur'an are a daily part of school activities. Non-Islamic schools don't have these advantages and children may pick up ideas, behaviours and practises which are in conflict with Islamic teachings. Nevertheless, it is also important to find a good Islamic school which is at the forefront of the educational developments and where the teachers are absolutely committed to their work. Good manners, patience and kindness go a long way. Sallaam and may Allaah SWT guide you and all those who work with children.

Your husband is incorrect, for knowledge is of two asprcts , beneficial and non benefecial. The islamic scholl will teach them what will benefit them in this life and the next, the non muslim school may bebegit them in this life but in the next there is no benefit. Every muslim has a duty to save themself and their family from abfire who's fuel is men and stones. Sura 66:6. Salaam

I totally agree with you Yaqin. There is so much knowledge around at everyone's disposal but one has to rcognise what is beneficial. We have to use our discretion and choose wisely as at the end, it is our own selves that we are trying to save. May Allaah SWT guide us as we seek his guidance. Saallam.

To help your case, it may be helpful to refer to the following listed below when discussing this issue with your husband: The Prophet (Pbuh) stated: Five people have left this world but their files have not been closed: Reward continually is bestowed upon them. 1) The one who plants a tree 2) The one who digs a water well for others to use 3) The one who builds a mosque 4) The one who has taken down the Quran and 5) The one who leaves behind a worthy child. [Bihar al-Anwar, v.104, p.97] How blessed is a worthy child that the Glorious Quran says: And Allaah has made for you mates (and Companions) of your own nature, and made for you, out of them, sons and daughters and grandchildren, and provided for you sustenance of the best. (Holy Quran Nahl 16:72) Sallaam
