WA alaykum Salam brother you always pray towards the east. Is that what you mean?

Salam brother,

From what brother Yaqin (and sister Sadie) have said you must face the qiblah (east) when at home.

There is a website called: Find this site and enter your address or post-code. This will then show you the direction you should face.

If you truly cannot identify the direction of the qiblah from your home - and if your brother refuses to help you, or to escort you to the nearest mosque - then there is no fault on your part. Your intention is to do what is right, and this is enough. Offer your salah as best you can, and trust in the mercy and understanding of Allah (Subhana wa Ta'ala).

I hope this helps.

Salam brother,

You will find the following in Vienna:

Islamic Centre Vienna, Am Bruckhaufen 3a, 1210 Vienna Tel: 01 293 31 94

North of the city centre:

Hidaya Mosque, Praterstrasse 52, 1020 Vienna Tel: 01 214 62 91

East of the city centre:

Haci Bayram Mosque, Keinergasse 18, 1030 Vienna Tel: 01 713 78 64

South of the city centre:

Anadolu Mosque, Pernerstorfergasse 57/27, 1100 Vienna Tel: 01 602 02 96

West of the city centre:

Fatih Mosque, Schottenfeldgasse 71/1, 1070 Vienna Tel: 01 523 03 75

There are other mosques in Vienna besides these.

I’m confident that in any of these places you will find an imam who can assist you; and give you good counsel and continuing support, inshallah.

I hope this helps.

May Allah (Subhana wa Tal'la) guide you.

Ah. I had a feeling this could get a bit more complicated.

May I ask why you cannot go out on your own? What you say will help me decide what to do next.

In the meantime I'm going to ask Brothers Yaqin and Stronghold to look at your question. These brothers can be trusted to give good guidance.

@Muhammad Naziru, beloved, it is reported on the authority of Umar Ibn Khattab that the Rasul said," Everything is judged by ones intentions." This means the actions of everthing we do begins with ones intent. This why before we offer any prayer we must first make our intentions. Allah azza wal jall has stated in his glorious book ," It is not righteousness that you turn to the east or west, it is righteousness that you turn your face to Allah." Now, the question to ask is, is my prayer valid if I'm not sure what direction the qiblah is? The answer to this is twofold, the first is, if one is in a Masjid where the five prayers are established or in your home then one must face the qiblah, but outside of these two factors if one is in travel and is not sure the salah is mandatory so one offers the salah, for ones intentions must always be to face Allah. The house is just a direction we don't pray to the house or intend to do so for this act is shirk, and shirk my beloved brother is very serious in islam as I believe you know. In the sunnah the Rasul prayed many times riding his camel sometimes the qiblah to his back he didn't stop to face the qiblah he prayed the salah as you should. I pray this helps you, salaam.

what about this damn dog? should he ask it three times to leave his presence? and if it doesn't should he kill it? it might be jinn?

if you are in austria i would think you face southeast?

yaqin, when does flander's comments warrant a curse? i feel so special. so the iranians face east? seems west would be much shorter, rather than wrapping your magic words all the way around the world? y'all are funny. maybe you were facing the wrong way when you cursed me. i'm in st. petersburg, Florida. NOT russia. maybe you were confused?

one is the lonelist number that you'll ever do. one what? correction of you. if you are in yemen wouldn't you face north? iraq south? always east makes no sense. but then again, given the track record of islam and sense, you maybe right?

and if the reason for ALL CAPS is because they are easier to read, then why not use them ALL THE TIME.
