wa alaikum el salaam. it is not haram nor shirk, but actually one of the sunnah and best acts.

and we have been told that prophet Muhammad get use to say when visiting the Baqi', " Al Salaamou alaikum a house of a believers people, and He gave you what He promised and tomorrow moujiloon, and we are in-shaa-Allah next after you, O Allah forgive to the people of Baqi' el ghorkod."

so it is good to visit normal graves for two reasons; to remind us by our death, and to make duaa/supplication for the dead. and for visiting the righteous people especially sayidna Muhammad salla=Allahou 3alayhi wa sallam and Ahl-el bayt as it is considered a good for prophet's kinship, as it is the only thing prophet Muhammad asked us for(as a reward).. "Say, (O Muhammad), ' I do not ask you for it(this message) any payment (but) only good will through (due to) kinship.' and whoever commits a good deed- We will increase for him good therein. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Appreciative." (42:23)

and Allah knows better

Beloved brother inclined2truth, this the haqq, for the scholars of ahlul sunnah has made this very clear. Those of the salafi dawah had declared this sunnah as shirk. Salaam

yaqin, "Salafis reject speculative philosophy (kalam) that involves discourse and debate in the development of the Islamic creed.[citation needed] They consider this process a foreign import from Greek philosophy alien to the original practice of Islam.[citation needed] The Imam, Al-Dhahabi (d. 748H / 1348) said:"

sounds familiar? watchout for the greeks.

"Salafis condemn certain common practices as polytheism (shirk) and tawassul of religious figures, such as venerating the graves of Islamic prophets and saints"

Mike the salfi dawah says who them? No what they do is declare any who don't adhere to their innovative doctrine a disbeliever. Of coarse they want to debate, for the speculative philosophy is the hellenized jibberish they propagate with billions of oil money backing their propaganda. This fact truly exposes the malice intent behind this dawah. True the muslims defeated the Romans, but the Greco-Roman hellenized philosophy conquered those with desease in their hearts. This fact is seen in the sect Mu'tazilla. The salfi are better at disguising their true intent.

The scholars for dollars has ruled this act as shirk, but the facts from ahlul sunnah is the strongest proof. I don't accept my islam from anyone who is openly fasiq. Salaam
