As-salamu 'alaikum. Brother at the begining of every sin you will see that satan whispers and tempts you to do that sin. He also makes you forget the consequences of the sin. So, remember Allah and his punishment and dont listen to satan. Also know that death might occur any moment. This life is temporary. Hellfire will be 70 times hotter than normal fire. Understand the severity of the punishment, and use this as your motivation. Also do what a good muslim does-
1. A good muslim has strong iman that can't be uprooted
2. He has Ikhlas 3. He loves Allah and prophet Muhammad(may Allah send peace upon him) more than his own life 4. He carries out the fard, sunnah and nawfil acts in islam with perfection
5. He strives hard to stay away from sins 6. Repents if he sins and feels guilty and scared to commit the sin again
7. He loves to do good deeds
8. He loves Allah for his bounties and fears him for his punishment
9. He is always optimistic
10. He loves to forgive and is always patient 11. He is never lazy and always keeps himself busy with good deeds
12. He strives hard to acquire knowledge in islam
13. He does jihad with his nafs and satan. 14. Lives a simple life and gives charity
15. He doesn't waste time at all by doing useless things
this is just a brief list of qualities that a good muslim has. See how many qualities of a good muslim you have within yourself.

" And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allāh. Indeed, He is Hearing and Knowing. Indeed, those who fear Allāh – when an impulse touches them from Satan, they remember [Him] and at once they have insight. But their brothers – the devils increase them in error; then they do not stop short."(7:200-202)

Satan is a clear enemy to us, so do not be in rest/peace with him. And remember Allah is the cure for this and so you will be having insight! because the believers are the ones who believe in the unseen/ghayb. And we are told and believe that there is in the unseen, Allah, His angels, Heaven and Hell... Jinn(the righteous and the totally departed from right path like Satan and devils. So in the unseen our heart is between an inspiration from angels or whispers from the devils/shayateen. So we should see this by our insight/mind/brain and see if the call is for the good of our Last then it is from the angels.. and if it is for something else then it is from shayateen.. and so we seek refuge in Allah from them so we be having insight again.

"And say, 'My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils,And I seek refuge in You, my Lord , lest they be present with me." (23:97) in Arabic; "Rabbi a3ouzou beka min hamazaat esh-shayateen, wa a3ouzou beka Rabbi an ya7douroun."

reciting souraht Al kursi is a protection from shaytan especially when sleep they do not approach until you wake up. Allah knows better.. Al salaamou 3alaikum
