how ya doing today blue? true dat. all things can change. maybe i don't understand exactly what is being discussed. i thought i read a hadith once of were muhammad was sleeping and gabriel came and cut him open and his insides where gold or something? then he went to hell and say the inhabitants? then went to heaven and god told him to have muslim pray 50 times a day. then he ran into moses on the way out and moses told him that was too many. go back and tell god they won't be able to do that. so it became 25 then 15, 10 finally 5. muhammad is quite the negotiator? so are we not talking about

the people in hell at that time? or am i getting some things mixed together or other wise confused?

anyway, i got a top secret answer for ya, but don't tell anyone. elle, a 17 year-old palestinian-american told me that more women go to hell (becuase of gosiping and those things listed by your boy below) but stay for a shorter time. that men who commit the more severe crimes meriam mentioned stay much longer but are smaller in number. not sure that is islamic doctrine or not, but that is what she said.

hang on, i'm going to see if i can find it.

Why will there be more women in Hell than men?

"Praise be to Allaah.

It was narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that women will form the majority of the people of Hell. It was narrated from ‘Imraan ibn Husayn that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I looked into Paradise and I saw that the majority of its people were the poor. And I looked into Hell and I saw that the majority of its people are women.”

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3241; Muslim, 2737)

With regard to the reason for that, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked about it and he explained the reason.

It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Abbaas said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I was shown Hell and I have never seen anything more terrifying than it. And I saw that the majority of its people are women.” They said, “Why, O Messenger of Allaah?” He said, “Because of their ingratitude (kufr).” It was said, “Are they ungrateful to Allaah?” He said, “They are ungrateful to their companions (husbands) and ungrateful for good treatment. If you are kind to one of them for a lifetime then she sees one (undesirable) thing in you, she will say, ‘I have never had anything good from you.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1052)

It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri said:

“The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went out to the Musalla on the day of Eid al-Adha or Eid al-Fitr. He passed by the women and said, ‘O women! Give charity, for I have seen that you form the majority of the people of Hell.’ They asked, ‘Why is that, O Messenger of Allaah?’ He replied, ‘You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religious commitment than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you.’ The women asked, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, what is deficient in our intelligence and religious commitment?’ He said, ‘Is not the testimony of two women equal to the testimony of one man?’ They said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Is it not true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?’ The women said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘This is the deficiency in her religious commitment.’”

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 304)

It was narrated that Jaabir ibn ‘Abd-Allaah said: “I attended Eid prayers with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He started with the prayer before the khutbah, with no adhaan or iqaamah. Then he stood up, leaning on Bilaal, speaking of fear of Allaah (taqwa) and urging us to obey Him. He preached to the people and reminded them. Then he went over to the women and preached to them and reminded them. Then he said, ‘Give in charity, for you are the majority of the fuel of Hell. A woman with dark cheeks stood up in the midst of the women and said, ‘Why is that, O Messenger of Allaah?’ He said, ‘Because you complain too much and are ungrateful to your husbands.’ Then they started to give their jewellery in charity, throwing their earrings and rings into Bilaal’s cloak.”

(Narrated by Muslim, 885)

Our believing sisters who learn of this hadeeth should behave like those Sahaabiyaat who, when they learned of this, did good deeds which would be the means, by Allaah’s leave, of keeping them far away from being included in that majority of the inhabitants of Hell.

So our advice to the sisters is to strive to adhere to the rituals and obligatory duties of Islam, especially prayer, and to keep away from that which Allaah has forbidden, especially shirk in its many forms which are widespread among women, such as seeking one's needs from someone other than Allaah, going to practitioners of witchcraft and fortune-tellers, etc.

We ask Allaah to keep us and all our brothers and sisters far away from the Fire and the words and deeds that bring one close to it.

Islam Q&A"

i see no mention of this non-existant statistical skew of women having a high rate of birth.

heading into the answer box again for a comment, because this is long:

http://www.islamophobiatoday.com/2011/08/17/muslim-husband-shot-wife-killed-while-walking-with-3-year-old-son-in-new-jersey/

"Of course, God also said many people in Hell will eventually go to heaven, but they need to be punished for the sins that they didn’t repent for, always supposedly minor things; like Gossip, or swearing etc. God said when their sins are all gone, they will enter paradise. So maybe women who tried to be good in this life but gossipped constantly, will go to hell, but maybe God will bring them out after theyve recieved their adequate punishment. Please, I’m asking you to go to a reliable sheikh or someone who knows better and ask them. It’s not because God is bein unjust to women, God created us to be equal to men, right? And there are many many many women tha will go to Paradis for their actions. 4 women I want to mention quickly.".....

"Ok, but it doesn’t mean there should be an equal amount of genders in the beginning….if the women that just gossiped finally get out of Hell, then it means the men who are sent (and weren’t allowed out) would spend a longer time or eternity there….do you get me?"

i miss elle. that girl didn't give up on an arguement easily. and she used to yell at the saudis. cracked me up.

Unfortunately Mr. Mike has violated the limits that should be observed in this site.

We invite you Mr Mike to kindly come and question and benefit from this opportunity of conversing from Muslims all over the globe. However, the recent incident of mockery is something detestable. It is an honour for me to be able to converse with you and clarify your questions.

Asking questions is something encouraged and a means by which we can learn and it is good that you may benefit from this opportunity.

However, in light of Mr Mikes posts, there was sadly an outright mockery of Islam and its laws, of Allah and His commandments. This no longer amounts to questioning according to my opinion.

In addition as Muslims we should not be sitting in a gathering where Allah and His verses are mocked. This makes me question the legibility of visiting this site.

Please remove the user. Both abdrauf and mike2

O and plaease also delete the offensive comment in the conversation mentioned. As I said, Muslims should NOT be in a gathering where Allah and His verses are mocked.

ougt oh. i new sheriff in town. don't get upset with me just because you don't know your statistics? the irony here is that the answer above is the one you should see mockery in: "He said, ‘Is not the testimony of two women equal to the testimony of one man?’ They said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Is it not true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?’ The women said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘This is the deficiency in her religious commitment.’”" or at least women should.

Its time consuming for me explaining my arguements. However, I will explain to you just the statistical arguments.

My statistical arguements.

The number of women exceeds the number of men but the number of male exceeds the number of female.

(see Note 1)

How? Go to any statistical data page.

Calculate the total number of male above the children age group and similarly the total number of female above the children age group.

Ratio for 2013: 49.9 men: 50.2women

I.e. a 0.3% difference.

I.e. This means there are 16 million more women than men today in the world in 2013.

If this is the case when the world is relatively free from war, what about the case in the past or during periods of war?

Note 1: The statistics divide human population into age groups. 0-14, 15-24, etc.

By men and women I dont mean babies and children but adults. Those above 14 will be used in this calculation for the number of adults.

Note 2: E.g. 2013 human population https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/xx.html

thank you umar for your statistical breakdown. yes i know there are more women than men on the planet. women outlive men. even without wars, and actually there are quite a few wars right now. there has never been a lack of wars. .3% is statistically insignificant. margin of errors are usually +/- 3 to 4%. anyone looking over a population wuld be able to observe a 3 tenths of a percent delta. then again we are agruing over a story of a person visiting heaven and hell. which don't even exist.

(Nov 06 '13 at 11:18) mikejm2 mikejm2's gravatar image

so i guess logic doesn't really apply. sorry if it took you a long time to find the numbers you wanted. good to see you use the cia world factbook though. i have it in my favorites.

(Nov 06 '13 at 11:20) mikejm2 mikejm2's gravatar image

In the end, even if you totally ignore the statistics argument,

We still believe in the statements of the Prophet (peace be upon him) which can be supported by various logical arguments and the reasons he gave for for which more women will enter the hellfire (.e. ingratitude ot their husbands and cursing frequently).

We know God in Islam is the Most Just and whomsoever He puts in hell, its not his gender that brought him there, but his actions. And Allah is not unjust to His slaves.
