I defend Dr Zakir Naik as he is one of the hero's of Islam in the 21st century. Although he is not a scholar, his intellect is amazing and his contribution to the Ummah is mind blowing. May Allah have mercy on Him and grant him Jannat Al Firdaus. His fame and strong arguments has undoubtedly brought him many enemies, but I guess this is Allah's test for him. The Prophets and the Ulama (scholars) faced opposition as far as I kniw abd this is a repeating pattern throughout the history.

It doesnt matter if the Scholars of Islam call themselves salafi or sunni or hanafi as long as they properly use the Quran and hadith and not blindly follow any scholar when they go against the Quran and the Sunnah. Islam qa is run by an esteemed scholar Sheikh Munajjid and not taking knowledge from him even though he references his answers is not right in my opinion.

glad you don't blindly follow

so do you agree with his fatawa on islam being spread by the sword? how about the 2004 tsunuami.

(Nov 07 '13 at 19:05) mikejm2 mikejm2's gravatar image

Ofcourse. Even though the faith was not by the sword because of the verse where Allah says 'Let there be no compulsion in religion' Islam as a political system and the Islamic empire was definitely spread by the sword although not always. I dont remember or know about the Tsunami fatwa.

Faith and religion cannot be forced on people. Sincerity and belief, both of which is essential in religion cannot be shoved onto people.

In the Quran God says that if He wanted, He could have made everyone Muslim. This is exactly where part of the test lies, because its all a choice and cannot be forced onto non-Muslims.

You are being tested even now and so am I.

"Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in al-Faroosiyyah (p.18):

Allaah sent him – meaning the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) – with the guiding Book and the conquering sword, ahead of the Hour, so that Allaah alone would be worshipped with no partner or associate, and his provision was placed beneath the shade of his sword and spear. Allaah has established the religion of Islam with proof and evidence, and with the sword and spear, both together and inseparable."

thank you for you direct answer. you have a good day.

Mike, there are 72 sects of Muslim, 72 sects of Christians, 72 sects of Judaism, only one sect of each is on true guidance. It is best a Muslim just call himself a muslim, than adhere to a sect.IM sunni, probably more Hannafi, slightly slafi authentic, but just a muslim. Allah knows best.

thank you for your answer. not quite as direct, in fact it brings more questions to mind. is a "school" a sect then? and you seem to straddle two schools hanafi and hanbali, or the new salaf movement of and old school?

"only one sect of each is on true guidance" so which is it? or are you saying no one knows? then you say "just muslim", so are you saying that some schools have somethings right and other things wrong? and that a "true" muslim would draw the right from a school and leave the wrong?

so you didn't run screaming from the site because an atheist is present? interesting.

@abyadgirl read what I posted on the topic difference in islam and please give me your insight, I await your response. Salaam

(Nov 07 '13 at 16:53) yaqin ♦ yaqin's gravatar image

@mike, All are on guidance, just with differences, strictness, and not so strict. It is a shame, that there is such disunity, as is with every thing. As for zakir Naik, he is into comparative religion and is not a scholar. So he not to be approached for shariah, hadiths of knowledge and guidence. Zakir is good for publicity and converting, but he also has to be very careful in not raising arguments.I am strict in following jurisprudence, and have learnt much from Arabs, and then i have learnt much from Asians. So, I see many benefits. I am just Muslim. Mike, atheists, make me feel glad im muslim

@abyadgirl, glad i could help.

@yaqin, sorry i missed it. i'll re-read, i'm assuming you are saying on the differances in islam question. but, strange if what he said is proof of his own misguidance, that his movement has flourised? gaining momentum even. guess $100 billion can do that.

a billion. that's with a B.

"From the OPEC Oil Crisis to 2003, the Saudis had spent at least $87 billion propagating Wahhabism abroad at a rising rate."

that's from the same wiki link that you complimented a_girl on.

how can i know the answer to someone's opinion?

i still don't know how zina is translated. muhammad asad's "the message of the quran, translated and explained" says it means both fornication and adultry, therefore appearently arbogating stoning, while other translations just say fornication? the miami cair guy said stoning is not mentioned in the koran, implying that there is no hadd punishment of stoning. yet others obviously disagree.

muslims have many groups and all of them believe that only one that is on right path will go to heavens and all others will go to hell. so this is quite obvious question that who is on right path. there nothing wrong with the question. so we muslims have answer very clear and without a doubt.

the true guidance is in 2 things, Quran and Sunnah. all other groups following any other book or any other person no matter if the person is islamic scholar or the book they follow is islamic book or whatever, they will go to hell. INShaAllah.

Muhammed (SEW) the prophet said that he left 2 things for us for true guidance Quran and Sunnah.
