I know many Muslims that still use the modern plastic toothbrushes, and its a shame. Who still uses them here? Do you know the many benefits of miswaak? My local bookshop gives them away from time to time, with advice on benefits in salat. The western culture has deceived man for ever and this is a small but major conn, that people these days feel is a small luxury, that they forget the importance of MISWAAK.

deceived man forever? what are you taling about? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miswak "A 2003 scientific study comparing the use of miswak with ordinary toothbrushes concluded that the results clearly were in favor of the users who had been using the miswak, provided they had been given proper instruction in how to brush using it.[2] The World Health Organization (WHO) recommended the use of the miswak in 1986 and in 2000"

you can buy them from amazon.

@mike, I have been using miswaak for thirty years now, and i know of many muslims who use the modern toothbrush. This was a reminder that the natural supplies that Allah provided are so much more beneficial,as you are so aware of!!, and now many others are too. I buy my miswaak from local grocery store, no need to go Amazon, thanks anyway, so when you going to revert?

@abyadgirl, yeah i remember like 20 years ago seeing something about a traditional africa toothbrush that was more effective then modern ones. seemed more sub-sahara african but it could have been the miswak? lots of simple natural things are better. i have many aloe (an arab word i recently learned) plants in my yard. i never by any sort of skin lotion even when my white ass gets sunburnt. yaqin said his grandmother has a plethora of home remides. but he won't share them :(. plus if i had kids i wouldn't want them putting plastic in their mouths, BPA. i wouldn't even use tupperware.

but sometimes man improves on nature. i'm like yaqin when it comes to these things, i don't follow a school of thought. i.e. nature is better or manmade is better. i try to examine each thing on it's own merit.

revert? it's kind of you to worry about my soul. but i think short of gabriel himself, or i guess my name sake could fill in, showing up, there's not much chance of that. but muhammad abdul ahad says he's going to show me proof. should be interesting.

i just don't see this western deception you speak of?

@mike,olive oil is another virtuous natural cure, I too am into the Prophets, saw, medicines and have studied nutrition as part of my training for my job. This western perception is about the social economics and the cultural mass market of consumer goods. Most things out there are not entirely needed. Technology has advanced at a rapid rate keeping man more unhealthy and pre occupied, to such an extent, that man is suffering and losing knowledge through this so called progression.

@abyadgirl, yeah i know lots or greeks, they use olive oil for everything. yes, certainly collgate and crest are pushing toothbrushes and toothpaste. doesn't mean you have to buy it. in fact i think the thing in africa was in response to a crest program to replace the traditional method with toothpaste. and of course western corperations have pushed baby formula on people. totally unnecessary if the mother can produce milk or their are wet nurses. but i think you're wrong on the "suffering and losing knowledge". life expectance is at an all time high. and more data is stored then ever.
