Why do women have more duties in Islam than men? And then why do men get a better reward? Women must wear the hijab, must carry babies in their stomaches for 9 months, must never refuse sex from their husband or they are cursed (That's just to name 3 examples of a long list). Men have the role of going to work and supporting the family but some women prefer/dream to work rather than for example force herself to have sex even though she doesn't want to. Then in heaven men get the reward of 72 virgins that they are entitled to sleep with (This makes me extremely uncomfortable and even makes me feel sad knowing my husband can sleep with others as his reward). I am not ignorant and not trying to cause problems .. I am just trying to learn more and find out the reasons why because I am sure there is a reason.

Asalaam o alaikum, In the Law of equality there is (saving of) Life to you, o ye men of understanding; that ye may restrain yourselves. Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #179)

He created you (all) from a single person: then created, of like nature, his mate; and he sent down for you eight head of cattle in pairs: He makes you, in the wombs of your mothers, in stages, one after another, in three veils of darkness. such is Allah, your Lord and Cherisher: to Him belongs (all) dominion. There is no god but He: then how are ye turned away (from your true Centre)? Az-Zumar, Chapter #39, Verse #6)

I beleive the man has a greater responsibilty, and i feel women are graced to be guided and protected by the man. It does not feel like the women has more duties then man.

Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all). An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #34) And in no wise covet those things in which Allah Hath bestowed His gifts More freely on some of you than on others: To men is allotted what they earn, and to women what they earn: But ask Allah of His bounty. For Allah hath full knowledge of all things. An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #32)The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just, and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers, practise regular charity, and obey Allah and His Messenger. On them will Allah pour His mercy: for Allah is Exalted in power, Wise. At-Taubah, Chapter #9, Verse #71)

Do I sense a disgruntaled wife, who is not happy in her home? Ignorance and lack of knowledge, and the disposition of the ego is evident here. Women are equal to men in as much as they can attain Jannah.

Allah hath promised to Believers, men and women, gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein, and beautiful mansions in gardens of everlasting bliss. But the greatest bliss is the good pleasure of Allah: that is the supreme felicity. At-Taubah, Chapter #9, Verse #72)

Man being created first, (Adam), with a body of strength and the ordinance of striving for a living, seems to be the hardest burden to bare. It becomes apparent then when you look at the women who came next (Eve), for she was of Adam, more fragile, and dependent on Adam, as if she were his offspring,( bare in mind, Eve was created from the rib of Adam, the crooked rib). So with this note, the crooked rib, we are prone to being looked after, and guided by man.

Fair in the eyes of men is the love of things they covet: women and sons; Heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. Such are the possessions of this world's life; but in nearness to Allah is the best of the goals (To return to). Aal-e-Imran, Chapter #3, Verse #14)

O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may Take away part of the dower ye have given them,-except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; on the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good. An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #19) Ye are never able to be fair and just as between women, even if it is your ardent desire: But turn not away (from a woman) altogether, so as to leave her (as it were) hanging (in the air). If ye come to a friendly understanding, and practise self-restraint, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #129)

And those who launch a charge against chaste women, and produce not four witnesses (to support their allegations),- flog them with eighty stripes; and reject their evidence ever after: for such men are wicked transgressors;- An-Noor, Chapter #24, Verse #4)

Women are highly esteemed in Islam, AND THE WOMEN IS INCERIABLY MENTIONED ALONG SIDE MAN IN ALL AFFAIRS. Allah has taken many steps on protecting wmoen and advising men how to treat women.

Those who slander chaste women, indiscreet but believing, are cursed in this life and in the Hereafter: for them is a grievous Penalty,- An-Noor, Chapter #24, Verse #23)

And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss. An-Noor, Chapter #24, Verse #31)

Such elderly women as are past the prospect of marriage,- there is no blame on them if they lay aside their (outer) garments, provided they make not a wanton display of their beauty: but it is best for them to be modest: and Allah is One Who sees and knows all things. An-Noor, Chapter #24, Verse #60)

For Muslim men and women,- for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in Charity, for men and women who fast (and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah's praise,- for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward. Al-Ahzab, Chapter #33, Verse #35)

O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Al-Ahzab, Chapter #33, Verse #59)

The wearing of hijab, is for protection and modesty. The verses i have shown you are ones that make clear that Allah never leaves out the women in all affairs. She is there for considered equal. Man is given certain tasks, and the women , her certain tasks, this is the only differences in effect.

In the Law of equality there is (saving of) Life to you, o ye men of understanding; that ye may restrain yourselves. Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #179)

INHERITANCE From what is left by parents and those nearest related there is a share for men and a share for women, whether the property be small or large,-a determinate share. An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #7)

THE HONOUR OF ONE WOMEN And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. Al-Mumenoon, Chapter #23, Verse #50)

THE GREATNESS OF THE QURAN And verily, it is in the mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom. Az-Zukhruf, Chapter #43, Verse #4)

And not forgetting the hadith, paradise lies at the feet of your mother. I can not find this hadith, in its exactness, but im sure you have heard of it. Women are form Allah and granted greatness and specialties, that men love, want and protect, by Allahs decree.
