That's not my question now is it? I did not ask if you can paint the nail after ablution. I asked does it NULLIFY ablution. Salaaam

Nail polish is a type of coating on nails..after doing wudhu, the water must go to every part of hand including nails on hand..but due to coating, the water doesnt reach in the nails but remains on wudhu remains uncompleted.. Hope, helped this answer.

well sadie, if they didn't have nail polish or some equivialent in the 7th century, then there probably aren't any textual "proofs". unless of course it is on of the "miracles" of the koran. does muhammad mention french tips? this maybe one of those laws arrived at by consences. what's that called itk?????? your former fellow moderator may be right.

so what if you have a bandage on your hand? does it remain incomplete?

Sister sadie...sorry for late reply...but sister, this is the question in which ilm fiqh is to be used..i couldnt found any ayah or Hadith regarding this...and also nail polish is the modern invention in the fashion world...and unwanted fashion in Islam is strictly Prohibited... @mikejm3 brother,if we have bandage in our hand, then surely water willnot enter the nails,etc..but in this case,Allah (S.W.T) knows our uzr or our problem..hence,bandage doesnt nullify wudhu...
