Definitely a touchy subject. What we must understand is that a man or women with feelings toward the same gender is not necessarily haram, as a straight Muslim male,it is only natural that I have feelings towards a female, the haram comes when we act on those feelings unlawfully. being gay may be a lifelong test for some people, and the opportunity for a reward on their patience may be even more.

Nowadays however, and especially in the west gay rights most often blow past the feelings barrier and advocate sexual and physical acceptance, which is impermissible in Islam. Definitely do not advocate LGBT, but you shouldn't have to overly address it. remain neutral, and when it comes down to several parties, do try and lean towards the anti-gay candidate, after assessing the other qualities of course.

so you want to distinguish between being gay and acting gay? passive gayness vs active gayness, if you will. so it's alright to be gay, just don't BE gay? perplexing.

i'll take that as a no.

You shouldn't support it, nor should you go against it.

Be neutral with their orientation. Don't have a DARK interaction with them.

anakata, what does that mean? if two people are running for congress/parliment, and one is for gay rights and the other is against gay rights, who do you vote for?

(Nov 22 '13 at 17:21) mikejm3 mikejm3's gravatar image

@sadie

22:5 "... about the Resurrection, (consider) that We created you out of dust, then out ... , in order that We may manifest (our power) to you; and We cause whom We will to rest in the wombs ... every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs)."

31:10 "He created the heavens without any pillars ... with you; and He scattered through it beasts of all kinds. We ... every kind of noble creature, in pairs."

And I cannot provide more since I am about to reach the Comment Size Allowance.

@mikejm3

I would vote for the candidate who is "Against the Same-Sex Marriage."

(Nov 22 '13 at 22:33) Anakata Anakata's gravatar image

so if a man has three wives, how is that a pair?

aren't you in sweden? i would imagine you have run out of candidates against same-sex marriage.
