This is what the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) did when he entered Mecca (after the conquest) he destroyed the statues that were present, about 300 idols were there. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) wasn't the only one that destroyed idols, Prophet Ibrahim did too.

Ibrahim left his father's house and abandoned his people and what they worshipped. He decide to do something about their state of disbelief, but did not reveal it. He knew that there was going to be a great celebration on the other bank of the river which would be attended by all the people. Ibrahim waited until the city was empty, then came out cautiously, directing his steps towards the temple. the streets leading to it were empty and the temple itself was deserted for the priests had also gone to the festival outside the city.

Ibrahim went there carrying a sharp axe. He looked at the stone and wood statues of the gods and at the food laid in front of them as offerings. He approached one of the statues and asked: "The food in front of you is getting cold. Why don't you eat?" the statue kept silent and rigid. Ibrahim asked all the other statues around him:"Will you not eat of the offering before you?" (37:91) He was mocking them for he knew they would not eat. He once again asked then: "What is the matter with you that you do not speak?" (37:92)

He then raised his axe and started smashing the false gods worshiped by the people. He destroyed them all except one on whose neck he hung the axe. After this his anger subsides and he felt at peace. He left the temple. He had fulfilled his vow to show his people a practical proof of their foolishness in worshiping something other than All.

So if our prophets destroyed the idols, then what the Taliban did were right. If it's true that they were actually idols, it's an obligation to destroy them as they are symbols of shirk (paganism), these idols are being worshiped besides the Allah the almighty.

thank you. i like your story. so abraham mocked other people's beliefs. my kind of guy. i mock other people's beliefs too. it is fun and does relieve anger. you know i leave camel dung out ever night for the jinn, but their livestock never seem to eat it. what do you think is up with that? maybe i'm in a jinn free part of the world?

so do you actually believe in jinn? how about gog and magog?

i thought the number was 360?

but again, thank you for your honest.

(Dec 06 '13 at 18:35) mikejm4 mikejm4's gravatar image

I've also heard there was 360 idols but wasn't sure so that's why I said about 300.Yes I do believe in the Jinn and yes I do believe in Gog and Magog. There is a verse that speaks about them, They said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, indeed Gog and Magog are [great] corrupters in the land. So may we assign for you an expenditure that you might make between us and them a barrier?" [18:94]. There are also many verses that speak about the jinn, so why shouldn't I believe them?

(Dec 06 '13 at 19:28) omar omar's gravatar image

yes the two horned king building a wall. i saw sadie's video, and i had read that verse already. so gog and magog outnumber muslims 9 to 1? well there are 1.5 billion muslims. so there would be 13.5 billion members of gog and magog. what do they farm, what do they raise? and they are where? then you add all these jinn who have been around before man, who have families, you got to imaging there are billions of them? i just don't get where all the food supply is for these creatures.

(Dec 07 '13 at 10:13) mikejm4 mikejm4's gravatar image

or wait there is a hadith that says muhammad said 999 of 1000 people well be in the hellfire. but don't worry they will be made up of the people of gog and magog. so there is going to have to be alot more than 13 billion.

maybe the stone idols are eating very slowly and that is why food rots? think about it. if you can have invisable beings why can't the pagans?

ut oh, sympathy for the devil just came on the radio. could be a sign from allah? sadie speaking of the stones, what ever became of paul?

"pleased to met you, hope you guessed my name".....lol.

Salam, I know a lots of things about Afghanistan. So the answer for your question is yes it the right of Taliban to destroy the Buddhas because at first place that afghani which are Muslim who made those Buddhas and right know they all decide to destroy them and those Buddhas are from history time so right know every afghani think that they are no place for those Buddhas in Afghanistan.

bibi, i greatly doubt your theory on concensus, seems how they are re-building them. so do you or omar or yaqin or anyone, think the pyramids should be destroyed?

(Dec 10 '13 at 11:40) mikejm4 mikejm4's gravatar image

Why should the pyramids be destroyed? I don't think that they represent any religion. So why should it? The pyramid isn't also being obeyed, it's like a tourist destination, where people come often to visit and see the pyramid and maybe even go inside the pyramid, that's about it. No need to destroy the pyramids.

i thought the pharohs considered themselves gods? are there not depictions of ra and iris and horis in them?

what are the sphinx?

yes they are tourist sites. in fact my parents went to see them a few years ago. don't you think 5,ooo year-old buddhas could have been tourist sights, or certainly developed into one.

Yeah muslims are the Taliban, their operating on their own. Not following whats right and doing evil.. If you wanna call muslims then your choice. But yes it is allowed to lie by muslims, so I understand good. Maybe the Taliban just fake killed and fake bombed others, and took the credit for the things that really happen. Could be so... OR?

So you should not believe what is said by the Taliban, for their Muslims and their lyars... Or any muslim news or something, only american news... But if the Taliban takes credit then their probably lying...

You're talking out of your own anger and have allowed your thoughts to be clouded by false judgement, and stupified information that has gained access to your head.

On the contrary, you're on an Islamic website, that too BY CHOICE, and you're doing nothing but showing rage and trolling your life away. I think you care too much, and are very sensitive. Stop your idiotic bantering.

(Mar 08 at 20:20) ravirizaei ravirizaei's gravatar image

Well yes I am on a islamic page, but are you rooting for the Taliban now ? They have the anger your talking about...

(Mar 08 at 20:35) KteerShorta KteerShorta's gravatar image

Yes. The Taliban were right to destroy the Bhuddas. Palagomy is a sin, and so is being a troll who is on Islam.com just to be an idiot.
