It is prescribed to muslims to keep secret what charity they have done but I was once told that there are two categories of deeds, those that should be kept private and those that need not be. My question thus is that if the intention of a person is not to show off should he randomly or otherwise mention that he has offered salat? And would it be wrong to offer salat publicly (excluding congregational prayer) if he has the option to pray in private?
