Temperary marriage allowed or not

Probably you are referring to Nikah Mutah but there are ways to disprove it or prove its legality. So there is ambiguity.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Of all the lawful acts the most detestable to Allah is divorce.

What is temporary marriage? This would imply that they divorce early.

Marriage by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh):" The greatest sin amongst all sins in the eyes of Allah, is of a person, who marries a woman and divorces her once his needs have been fulfilled and also usurps her dowry in the process. Secondly, is a person who after having employed somebody usurps their pay. Thirdly, is a person who kills animals for no apparent reason." [necessarily not dowry in your case but this is a lesson to be taken from this example].

And the blessing of marriage: The Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam has stated, "Marriage is the basis for blessings and children are an abundance of mercy."

Islam commends marriage and shuns divorce.

If this is the modern world? Woe to it! They forget that hereafter is better but they look to beat around the bush. Allah is right, we indeed are thankless.

Depends on school of thought. For maaliki, hanbali, shaafa'i and hanbali no, for jaffari yes.

Imaam Ali (as) made it permissible but under specific circumstances. You can find these stipulations through google.

Salaam. Bismillah AlRahman AlRaheem.

We must use common sense. If temporary marriage is allowed then would not dating be allowed with multiple partners? Would we not then be just like the non-believers or Jewish men who believe they can have temporary marriage( one night stand) so long as the woman is non-Jewish. A marriage contract is very serious and many ayat from Allah AlRahman AlRaheem are dedicated to this matter. In a marriage both man and woman have rights that must be fulfilled, will you fulfill all those rights before you "temporary marry" and after? Shaitan loves divorce, so would you then still divorce your "temporary wife" even though you are doing something the Shaitan loves? Would you wish for your own self, or daughter or sister to be taken as someone's "temporary wife". Of course not. Allah knows best, but your wife is best for you, and self control is a character of the Pious.

salaam, not everyone uses temporary marriage to become boyfriend and girlfriend. IF a temporary marriage is done in this type of circumstance, it is INVALID and definitely haraam. thanks!

Salaam. Bismillah Al Rahman AlRaheem, please dear brother/sister explain what temporary marriage consists of and perhaps I will see that it is not similar to a one night stand, one week stand, or girlfriend boyfriend?

Salaam Bismillah AlRahman AlRaheem, if the intention for the marriage is divorce from the start, can we consider this a good intent, one that Allah will want for us? Or is this not an intent just as a one night stand, whether it be for physical pleasure or money and such? If this is the intention, divorce, then how can it be considered a marriage to begin with? We are not like the Jews where they can temporary marry, as per their Talmud, the "goyim" (non Jewish women) for selfish purposes.

salaam. Excuse me, but you are not very well educated on this matter. You are going by what uneducated believe temporary marriage to be. Including many people who go about them. Temporary marriage was a law that was set in place by imaam Ali to protect a man from doing anything haram. The marriage comes with a contract. They are married and her parents must agree. These contracts were used for circumstances where women were divorced and basically homeless, and for men that want to avoid committing haram with a girlfriend. Their intentions should not be divorce.

but they are not forced to stay married if they do not agree. Of course the intention is that they stay married, and divorce in between the contract is looked at the same way as a regualar divorce would. Most women use these during their engagement period. Before their marriage. With the same man, of course. I personally wouldn't go through one, but it isn't forbidden to do so.

Salaam. Bismillah AlRahman AlRaheem. What you refer to is in the Qur'an for the basis of 4 wives. To marry women with orphaned children, and the needy women, is the basis for taking a 2nd, 3rd, or 4t wife. If what you say is correct, than this is not temporary marriage, but marriage. If the intent from the start is divorce, then this is not marriage. If this is a "wait and see" contract then this is engagement where no sex is permitted. If a contract is written between a man and woman where sex is not allowed, then this is not marriage, but a mutual agreement.

Common sense must prevail. Allah Al Wudood Al Wakil knows best and inshaAllah we are guided to the right way. Self control is best and the followers of our Beloved RasoolAllah are those with self control and not lusts, desires, or wants. I can not believe that our beloved RasoolAllah would have taken part in such a contract. The best of us take wives and husbands in a sacred contract and shun divorce unless absolutely necessary. Would you take a temporary wife/husband have children with them, and then repeat this process

(Mar 24 at 18:35) Student922 Student922's gravatar image

with another man/woman? What if this "temporary marriage" brings you children, will you raise then as your own or will they be orphans with their mother? What kind of society will we have then? The answer is a Western society where a single father (as per Islamic law) is left to take care of multiple children from his multiple "temporary wives" plus real Wives in Allahs eyes. A society where marriage is as disposable as a piece of paper. May Allah protect us from wronging our souls and others.
