I am 16 year old Muslim and I am addicted to gay porn and masturbation. I have tried to stop since august and I have not succeeded. I have prayed to allah to help but I just can't put faith into it because there is a part of me that wants to go back to masturbate. I am not a gay person, I am just into gay porn. I am attracted to women and I have always wanted kids. Every time I masturbate I feel bad for doing it, but I always get lured back in. Is there an exception for my situation? I would never commit a gay act, just maasturbation and watching porn. I pray 5 times a day.

Please don't put an answer such as "pray harder" as I have tried. Please help me. Is there an exception?

This requires more then just prayer. Allah only helps those who help themselves. Pornography is a problem for many Muslims and the first step to healing is staying away from it.

If you are having trouble doing this you should consider installing some type of software that will help block this type of content. Some of them allow you to even set a password so that you can't disable it. Try to find a good software and have a friend set the password for you.

Second of all you should pray when the urge come to you to masturbate or watch pornography. This doesn't mean make Salah but just do something to clear your thoughts. Try listing to Quran or watching an Islamic lecture on YouTube.

Also try to educate yourself more about Islam on websites like www.alqesas.com or www.whyislam.org

Praise be to Allah.

Many brothers(especially the youth) are facing this problem and are having a hard time trying to stop this addiction. Inshallah either the brother's above answer will help or the answer I am going to give you right now.

Firstly, remember who your god is, remember the punishment that will be on you if you continue to do this sinful act, remember the punishment of the grave, remember that the ALMIGHT ALLAH will forgive those that ask for foregiveness as he is the most gracious and the most merciful.

Let me give you a hadith: Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant than if one of you gets up and he finds his camel missing in a waterless desert (and then he accidentally finds it). [Sahih Muslim] Imagine how happy you are when you find your camel in a waterless desert, won't you be very happy? Allah is more happier than that person when his servant repents.

Another hadith: If you were not to commit sins, Allah would have swept you out of existence and would have replaced you by another people who have committed sin, and then asked forgiveness from Allah, and He would have granted them pardon. [Sahih Muslim]

The meanings of these hadiths is that you should ALWAYS REPENT, do tauba and ask for forgiveness. If you do tauba, and then you do this sinful act again, REPENT, if you repent, and you get back to this sinful act, REPENT, ALWAYS REPENT, REPENT, REPENT! You must try and make your iman strong, have faith in Allah, and try to stay away from this. I'm not telling you to go and do this sinful act whenever you want and then you repent, no, you must stay away from this.

Go on this website, and download the program, make sure you don't put the password, as you will know it already, make your parents put the password and tell them to never give it to you, once you download this program, it will filter out porn from the internet. http://www1.k9webprotection.com/ Salaam.

AssalamuAlaikum,

Read the words of Sheikh Tawfique Chowdhury:

Trying to overcome a sin, an addiction, something that you know Allah does not like? Having a hard time and every time you fall into it, your heart cries "Oh not again!" ? Well there is a simple but very powerful tool to stop -

Say NO to that "first" thought that slowly enters your mind. Yes, as simple as that. Don't even open the door to that conversation that takes place in your head that you ultimately end up losing.

Often we think its good to debate with our minds as we are being "intelligent". No my brothers and sisters! That is the biggest trap of shaytan and your nafs.

So the next time it happens, shout out aloud if you have to and tell yourself "I am not even thinking about it, so go away." Then open the Quran on any page, and see how the protection and love of Allah envelops you from all sides.
