Assalaamu’alaikum.

A couple has two daughters. The husband barely stays at home. He mostly stays in a room at his in-laws’ place. He leaves home at Fajr time and returns only after ‘Isha prayer – to sleep.

After working hours, he fetches his food from his wife and goes back to his in-laws’ place. He never has dinner together with them.

The wife sleeps with the two daughters while the husband sleeps in a separate room. This has been the situation since nearly 19 years.

The husband is described as irritating because he talks a lot. For this reason, the wife’s parents prefer that he stays away from the wife and the children so he does not trouble them.

Are the wife’s parents to be blamed if today there’s no relation between the spouses?

Would a divorce be better than living like this?
