Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh Alhamdulillah I am a New revert of 7 months, I have been Married for just over one Month to a revert brother however since we got Married he has not prayed 5 times a day in fact he dose not know the Prayers off by heart. He is smoking Cannabis and today I found out he has been Gambling. He has not as yet given me my Dowry. We live in my property and I pay for everything he dose not provide for me at all which I don't have an issue with as he is not working but he dose not have any intention to get a job from what he says to me. I have been doing my best to have Sabr however I feel that I am doing myself an injustice as I get angry and very upset. I feel very emotional and I feel that my Iman is low when I am around him. I have spoken to him about this on many occasions however he dose not seem to take it seriously. Islam is my life and I do not want to live like this however I do not know what to do for the best. I don’t have anyone sisters around me to speak to really that’s why I have sent this question to you. Please give me your advice and what you believe the best course of action to be. Jazakallah Khair

Asalaam o alaikum, sister, do not despair, I understand exactly where you are coming from. Make dua for your husband after every salat. Keep your duties and your Iman strong and do not fail in this respect, or feel lowered to your husbands level. Cannabis is a strange abomination that makes a person very forgetful and lazy. So pray for Allah to make your husband stop smoking and for Allah to then strengthen his Iman. Life may seem a real struggle and so frustrating to watch this behaviour and the feeling of being helpless. But help is at hands in Allah.

Kula is not recommended, as i read that to ask for this , the women then denies herself Paradise, if i find the quote , i will include it here. Also, it is extremely hard and expensive to get this kula passed by the shariah council. I should know, i ask for it to and regret ever thinking about it........and thus all was resolved naturally,,,, by Allahs will. Patience is a great virtue, and perseverance, so hold fast to these two requisites... qualities, for they will make for great stamina and strength in your Iman.

Allah knows best.
