I converted to Islam 8 mths ago after years of a failing marriage and praying for guidance. I prayed for someone to help me and finally Allah sent me a friend to help. I told my husband I want a divorce, I tried everything with him but have suffered his control and emotional abuse for 6 years. This is what led me to Islam I wanted to find myself again and obey Allah do right. Yet my husband won't let me go he has turned all of my family against me saying Islam is a cult. Today he contacted the guy who was teaching me about Islam and started accusing him of committing adultery. This guy never once did anything wrong our conversations were always strictly platonic. I was only looking for knowledge he helped me, my husband just won't let me go won't let me follow islam. I'm so lost I have no one where I live on my side and am afraid after today my friend won't want to help me any longer because my husband said some horrible things to him. Please can anyone give me any advice I'm just so lost I want to please Allah I want to serve him.

Allah will the judge of him on Qiyamah. Let him enjoy:

And the life of this world is nothing but play and amusement. But far better is the house in the Hereafter for those who are Al-Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2:2). Will you not then understand?

(Al-Anaam, Chapter #6, Verse #32)

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته

My dear sister, I am so happy for you. Praise be to Allah سبحانه و تعالى who guided you. You are a Muslim now whereas this man who you were married to is a disbeliever (who calls Islam a "cult" etc - Astaghfirullah). So your marriage to him is no longer valid (according to Islam) ... since a Muslim woman is only allowed to be married to a Muslim man. So you need to be strong and leave him. May Allah سبحانه و تعالى make things easy for you.
