Now updated: Ramadan calendar -

Salam alaikum bro/sisters, feeling pressure from parent{father} to go against the sunnah of our beloved Prophet s.a.w, as you all{Muslim} know going against our prophet is like going against the word of our Creator{Allah}. My father ask me to make a decission in shaving away my beard or i will face the consiquence? Help me weight it with Quran, sunnah and logical sense. Pls bro/sisters in Islam help me make a decission? Your advice is all welcome. Thanks

Are your parents greater than Prophet?

Be happy to face the consequence with a smile.

This is a very small test from Allah..

Who knows! this sacrifice may directly lead you to Jannathul Firdous!

Try to decide a solution which compromises both parties:

I was also faced with this. But I told them I wanted to keep a beard as Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) did but they came with excuses that people will laugh and such etc.

I remained patient and eventually they told me that least I could do is keep a nice beard via trimming it. But at same time prophet (pbuh) said parents are your hell and paradise. So this is the least compromise I could reach.

On other hand this may come in handy as reference:

كBook of Purification (11) Chapter: Characteristics Of Fitra (16)

Ibn Umar said: The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) said: Trim closely the moustache, and let the beard grow.

Reference: Sahih Muslim 259a In-book reference : Book 2, Hadith 67 USC-MSA web (English) reference : Book 2, Hadith 498

But note nowhere does it say that shaving is a major sin.
