Now updated: Ramadan calendar -

Ten years ago, my family was in a very content state. Money was rarely a problem, and my father was at the top position in his company. We had a good social life and family and friends who loved us. I remember so much happiness when I recall those memories. We were pious conservative Muslim family and prayed and fasted accordingly and gave zakaat regularly. Then my father left his job and came to north america with for our education. He still hasnt found a job and has done odd jobs that offer a fraction of what he used to get paid back home. My mother also had to start working full time. Both my parents have health problems as a result of working so much. And after all this, there is not enough money to run the house and we are drowning in debt. We don't have a social life and any friends as my parents are too tired to and we are ashamed of our living conditions. I always see my friends and cousins in our native country living so much better than me while when we were there we were better off than them. I am just wondering why Allah did this to us. I now suffer from extreme depression and anxiety which is taking a huge toll on my studies as there is a new problem every time i come home. I am doing really bad in uni and I am scared I will not find a job after graduation. Every day I wake up and think why I am I alive again. I really want to see my parents happy that is why I want a good future for them however I don't see it happening. I want to know why Allah made our lives so chaotic despite us praying and fasting and giving zakat. I still pray regularly and I ask for a miracle and rizq for our house but he seems to have stopped listening. I know people say he rewards us in the afterlife but I want to see my parents happy in the dunya. I want them to know that their sacrifices have been worthwhile but I know my life after grad will be hopeless. Please tell me how I can reach out to Allah as he is clearly not listening. It seems as if someone has cast an evil eye upon us and I am not sure how long I can keep living in such sadness and depression it is ruining my entire life.

And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sabirun (the patient).[2:155]

Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe," and will not be tested.

And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allah will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars, (although Allah knows all that before putting them to test).

And of the people is he who worships Allah on an edge. If he is touched by good, he is reassured by it; but if he is struck by trial, he turns on his face [to the other direction]. He has lost [this] world and the Hereafter. That is what is the manifest loss.” [Qur’an, 22:11]

Quran is alone the answer.
