Assalamu Alaykum,

Narrated Ibn Umar:

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, "Whoever keeps a (pet) dog which is neither a watch dog nor a hunting dog, will get a daily deduction of two Qirat from his good deeds."

(Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 67, Hadith 389)

Narrated Abu Talha:

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, " Angels do not enter a house that has either a dog or a picture in it."

(Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 54, Hadith 539)

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, "If a dog drinks from the utensil of anyone of you it is essential to wash it seven times."

(Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 4, Hadith 173)

EXPLANATION:

  • Dogs itself are not naajis (impure) but their saliva is naajis (impure). This is why if a dog drinks from a utensil it has to be washed seven times.

  • According to the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) dogs should not be kept as pets because Angels will not come near a Muslim's house because Angels are pure creatures of Allah (Angels go where their is cleanness, therefore dogs should not be inside or outside your house).

  • Dogs are kept as a watch dog or as a hunting dog. If a Muslim keeps a dog as a pet a Muslim will lose 2 Qirat daily (this is equal to two huge mountains).

  • Would you rather earn 2 Qirat daily and enter Jannah OR keep a dog and lose daily 2 Qirat of good deeds?

Narrated Abu Hurairah:

The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, "Cats do not invalidate the prayer because they are one of the things that are useful in the house."

(Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 1, Hadith 369)

Narrated Abu Hurairah:

The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: "A woman entered Hell because of a cat which she tied up and did not feed, or let it loose to eat of the vermin of the earth, until it died."

(Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 37, Hadith 4256)

EXPLANATION:

  • Cats are allowed in Islam as they are not naajis (impure).
  • Cats or any animals (as pets) should not be kept locked up, or ill-treated otherwise you would be punished. They are creatures that are meant to be free.
  • Who are we to keep animals locked up as pets when they are creatures of free will?

Assalamu Alaykum,

Abu Zubair heard Jabir bin Abdullah saying:

Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ordered us to kill dogs, and we carried out this order so much so that we also kill the dog coming with a woman from the desert. Then Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) forbade their killing. He (the Prophet) further said, "It is your duty the jet-black (dog) having two spots (on the eyes), for it is a devil."

He only orders you to evil and immorality and to say about Allah what you do not know.

(Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 169)

EXPLANATION:

  • Black dogs here means that Shaytan (Devil) can take the form of a black dog. Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) meant don't kill any dogs (even black dogs) unless they have two spots on their eyes. The spots on the eyes of a black dog indicate that it is actually the Shaytan (Devil) who has taken the form of a black dog.

  • Shaytan (Devil) will use many tactics to lead a Muslim astray and make you think that in your religion (Islam) this is wrong and it should be changed.

THINK ABOUT:

  • Remember that you are not Allah, we (Muslims) have been given ordered by the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) what we should and should not do because there are reasons behind this and it is to benefit us so that we could go to Jannah.

  • You wrote 'Superstitious believes' (I think you meant superstitious belief). This is just Shaytan (Devil) trying to corrupt your mind and thinking that it false that a black dog can take the form of a black dog. This is just one of Shaytan (Devil) tactics into leading you astray from the right path which leads to Jannah. If you take an hour a day in your life to read religious books like the Hadith, and the Qur,an you would have a better understanding of your religion (Islam) why we (Muslims) have been ordered to carry out doing lawful acts and to keep away from what has been forbidden from.

ADVICE:

  • Sahytan (Devil) taking the form of a black dog is not a superstition. Shaytan (Devil) can take many forms to corrupt us and make us stray from the path. In Islam, there is no violence towards animals (unless if it can be proven that the animal is Shaytan). If you have read any religious books like the Hadith you would have learnt this about your religion (Islam).

  • It looks like that Shaytan is misleading you from your Deen (religion Islam). You should do the following:

Recite "A'udhu billahi meen-ash-shaytan-ir-rajeem", it is for refuge in Allah from Shaytan.

Be occupied in your worship to Allah as much as you can, (To prevent Shaytan (Devil) in causing you to go astray).

May Allah,

Please answer my question!

Assalamu Alaykum,

No I would not think they would be Shaytan (Devil) but I believe that purposely giving dogs with spots in their eyes is an act against Allah. We mankind should not play Allah and change Allah's creation in anyway.

The spots in the dogs eyes can be any color not just black.

I think what Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) meant was a stray black dog (who may have come from nowhere) that have spots in their eyes should be killed.

It is common in many cultures that Shaytan (Devil) can take the form of a black dog. There is a majority chance that it would take the shape of a black dog but there might say an estimate of maybe 10% or 1% chance that it would be maybe not the shape of a black dog (e.g. maybe a brown dog, etc).

It is not about genetics, etc. It is about the supernatural world where Jinns (Shaytan) can take the form of the black dog (or maybe another creature of any color).

I personally wouldn't go and kill a black dog with spots in their eyes but I would stay away from any dogs just in case it is Shaytan (Devil) who has taken the form of a black dog or any other color dog.

@ninjablack thanks for your answer. U mentioned that it would be an act against Allah. I think these types of fatwas took us really back in the field of science. All those research based on cancer, HIV, dementia and a lot more are based on this type of manipulation in an organism.

Shaik ul Islam, about yrs ago gave a fatwa against telegraph and telegraph was the biggest weapon for Napoli to invade the whole Europe.

Let's not talk about ethics.

I got your point anyway.

@Ninjablack666 I swear to Allah that I really respect you by heart. I have no intentions to hurt you. Just to let you know we did a project on genomes and genetic interventions. Now, in 21 century I could even change my eye colour permanently or I could change my gene coding. the colour of your body comes from your genes which i can change in a laboratory using different equipment and procedures which cost a lot of money. In lab we did a research on a cat who had brown spots under her eyes and what we learnt from that is by just giving the capsule containing the mRNA to pregnant mother will result in exactly the same size spots on the kittens.

Just for the sake of an argument : if I give a capsule containing the coding for black spots under eyes to a pregnant female dog, which would results 89% of offspring with two black spots under eyes. Would you still consider them as a sort of devils????
