Hi, I know this may sound really silly but i have this question that i need to get off my chest. My mother married a man who isnt my father. One day i was speaking to him about taking the family out and i decided to make a joke about it and act like i was saying it as if i was preparing an engagement. Basically said "we need to go out, we'll get up and dress then itikel 3alla Allah and 3a neyet el tawfeek". We both laughed it off. For some weird reason after i walked away i thought "did i just promise marriage to him by saying this?" Or more crazy did i just get married to him? I think im thinking of this because i hear alot of people say these words when getting married. I was young and this sounds really crazy i know but i just want to know if such a marriage can even happen in this way especially with a step father? Your help is appreciated.

Aoa,

Quran gives you a list of those whom you can't marry:

Forbidden to you (for marriage) are: your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, your father's sisters, your mother's sisters, your brother's daughters, your sister's daughters, your foster mother who gave you suck, your foster milk suckling sisters, your wives' mothers, your step daughters under your guardianship, born of your wives to whom you have gone in - but there is no sin on you if you have not gone in them (to marry their daughters), - the wives of your sons who (spring) from your own loins, and two sisters in wedlock at the same time, except for what has already passed; verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

( سورة النساء , An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #23)

So NO
