I have been looking deeply into Islam and my parents found out! Now they are setting up meetings with my church pastors and headmaster of my christian school. I dont know what to do! Im afraid they are going to confuse me and scare me.
Congrats now your test begins as a Muslim (check in footnotes). They will use weak knowledge (assumption) of yours and try to confuse you in your own beliefs and for that sake I have posted everything I have here. I hope you have strong knowledge.
Megwilliams no need to be afraid (Islam is simple and based on two main sources: Quran and Sunnah and if you get confused or doubtful then say "I have weak knowledge on it but I will check it later"). Use questioning and logical reasoning throughout the session. When they quote you should see it for yourself rather them telling you by rote as they might twist or exclude some parts of the verse (and look for context of the verses for better understanding) for confusion so be on look for it.
Ask THEM QUESTIONS RATHER THEM ASKING YOU (16:125_Invite (mankind, O Muhammad SAW) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Quran) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided.) and make it seem you are interested (try and ask more questions):
NB: the word "son of god" can be looked from either of two perspectives: a)as a pious person b)begotten son
They might get angry that you ask them too much questions and say that you should put faith. But belief without logic is illogical itself. How can religion limit using intelligence to ponder over the truth?
OK that's some list and the things they will try to tell about Islam to scare you:
You may want to check the FAQ (frequently asked questions) and the link is here: http://www.irf.net/faq.html and check through questions and answers "especially asked by the Christian Missionaries against Islam")
That is as much as my knowledge goes and may Allah with you!
You may prefer to read this first because it gives "good summary" of Christianity and Islam (including similarities): http://www.irf.net/Christianity.html
This site is all about answering misconceptions and blames they put on Islam: http://www.answering-christianity.com/ac.htm (if you have particular query then type "answeringchristianity beating wives"/"answeringchristianity Aisha" in Google)
Recite this dua before going there: http://www.coiradio.com/library/library/quran/light/light_06/009/129.htm (Surah Taubah v 129)
[These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.]
Check video lectures of Sheikh Ahmed Deedat (and Dr Zakir Naik) on topics such as: Is Jesus god? Was Jesus crucified? etc as they studied both religions.
The Jews call `Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is the saying from their mouth; (In this) they are intimate; what the Unbelievers of the old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the truth. [Qur'an 9:30]
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Leave me as I leave you for the people who were before you were ruined because of their questions and their differences over their prophets. So, if I forbid you to do something, then keep away from it. And if I order you to do something, then do of it as much as you can." (Sahih Bukhari Book #92, Hadith #391)
Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: The Prophet said, "My similitude in comparison with the other prophets is that of a man who has built a house completely and excellently except for a place of one brick. When the people enter the house, they admire its beauty and say: 'But for the place of this brick (how splendid the house will be)!" (Book #56, Hadith #734)
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Every Prophet was given miracles because of which people believed, but what I have been given, is Divine Inspiration which Allah has revealed to me. So I hope that my followers will outnumber the followers of the other Prophets on the Day of Resurrection." (Book #61, Hadith #504)
Narrated 'Aisha and 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas: When the disease of Allah's Apostle got aggravated, he covered his face with a Khamisa, but when he became short of breath, he would remove it from his face and say, "It is like that! May Allah curse the Jews Christians because they took the graves of their prophets as places of worship." By that he warned his follower of imitating them, by doing that which they did. (Book #72, Hadith #706)
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: I am most akin to Jesus Christ among the whole of mankind, and all the prophets are of different mothers but belong to one religion and no Prophet was raised between me and Jesus. (Book #030, Hadith #5835)
8 It almost bursts up with fury. Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask: "Did no warner come to you?"
9 They will say: "Yes indeed; a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: 'Allah never sent down anything (of revelation), you are only in great error.'"
10 And they will say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we would not have been among the dwellers of the blazing Fire!"
11 Then they will confess their sin. So, away with the dwellers of the blazing Fire.
