Is Music Haram or Halal?
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.494B Narrated by Abu Amir that he heard the Prophet (Blessings and Peace Be Upon Him) saying, "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful.”
Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3153 Narrated by Muhammad ibn Hatib al-Jumahi The Prophet (Blessings and Peace Be Upon Him ) said, "The distinction between what is lawful and what is unlawful is the song and the tambourine at a wedding."
Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 4909 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud I heard the Messenger of Allah (Blessings and Peace Be Upon Him ) say: ‘Singing (of unlawful songs) produces hypocrisy in the hearts.
You well com brother.... And do not forget...onley small drum is halal.(.duff) that one you hold it by one hand and beat it by ather hand....
Hello.... The music is haram ...but the beat without music ( like drums ) is not haram
There are opposing camps in regard to music: Muslims who say it is sinful; and Muslims who say it is not. We have seen some of the arguments put forward by those who say it is sinful, and there seems little point in repeating them here.
In the interests of fairness and balance it seems appropriate to offer the opposing argument, so that people can decide for themselves which of the two they prefer to live by.
It is worth noting that Muslims from both sides of the divide agree that music and lyrics should conform to the guiding principles in The Qur’an, and should not promote bad deeds.
The argument that music is not sinful:
Narrated Aisha: Allah's Apostle (saw) came to my house while two girls were singing beside me the songs of Buath (a story about the war between the two tribes of the Ansar, the Khazraj and the Aus, before Islam). The Prophet (saw) lay down and turned his face to the other side. Then Abu Bakr came and spoke to me harshly saying, "Musical instruments of Satan near the Prophet (saw)? " Allah's Apostle (saw) turned his face towards him and said, "Leave them." When Abu Bakr became inattentive, I signalled to those girls to go out and they left. It was the day of 'Id, and the Black people were playing with shields and spears; so either I requested the Prophet (saw) or he asked me whether I would like to see the display. I replied in the affirmative. Then the Prophet (saw) made me stand behind him and my cheek was touching his cheek and he was saying, "Carry on! O Bani Arfida," till I got tired. The Prophet (saw) asked me, "Are you satisfied (Is that sufficient for you)?" I replied in the affirmative and he told me to leave.

Narrated Aisha: That once Abu Bakr came to her on the day of 'Id-ul-Fitr or 'Id ul Adha while the Prophet was with her and there were two girl singers with her, singing songs of the Ansar about the day of Buath. Abu Bakr said twice. "Musical instrument of Satan!" But the Prophet said, "Leave them Abu Bakr, for every nation has an 'Id (i.e. festival) and this day is our 'Id."

It is argued that Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) did not prohibited music in general, but only that which formed part of the pagan Arab tradition (involving sexual activities); and that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) sought only to prevent the Muslims falling into the same sinful activities.
Here’s another hadith:
Ibn Umar reported: When the Muslims came to Medina, they gathered and sought to know the time of prayer but no one summoned them. One day they discussed the matter, and some of them said: Use something like the bell of the Christians and some of them said: Use horn like that of the Jews. Umar said: Why may not a be appointed who should call (people) to prayer? The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: O Bilal, get up and summon (the people) to prayer.
Muslim Book 004, Number 0735.
This hadith tells how the call to prayer (the adhan) came to be. You can see quite clearly that the companions are suggesting the use of musical instruments, such as those used by the People of the Book. If the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) was vehemently opposed to such instruments why were the companions not chastised? And why would they - who knew him best - dare to raise the matter at all?
And what exactly was the music of the People of the Book?
‘We have sent revelation to you (Prophet) as We did to Noah and the prophets after him, to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon – to David We gave the book (of Psalms).’
(Al-Nisa’: verse 163).
The book of Psalms is a collection of religious poems employed for the public worship of Allah (Subḥānahu ūta'āla). They are meant to be accompanied by a range of musical instruments:
‘Sing praises to the Lord ... for He does not ignore the cry of the afflicted ... Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death that I may declare Your praises ... and rejoice in Your salvation.’
‘I will praise You with the harp for Your faithfulness, O my God ... my lips will shout for joy when I sing praises to You - I, whom you have redeemed.’
‘Sing for joy to God our strength; shout for joy to God our strength, shout aloud to the God of Jacob! Begin the music, strike the tambourine, play the melodious harp and lyre…’
Allah (Subḥānahu ūta'āla) gave the Psalms to David as a gift….as the principal means of worship for the people David was appointed to guide and to lead.
Not only did Allah (Subḥānahu ūta'āla) intend David and his people to sing praises to his Name, He also instructed the mountains and the birds to echo these praises:
‘We graced David with Our favour. We said, “You mountains, echo Allah’s praises together with him, and you birds, too.”’
(Saba: verse 10).
Mankind and nature are not alone when it comes to singing praises:
‘And you (Prophet) will see the angels thronging round the Throne, hymning the praises of their Lord. And they are judged aright. And it is said: Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!’
(Al-Zumar: verse 75).
Those who say that music is sinful and prohibited must explain why Allah (Subḥānahu ūta'āla) would gift this ‘evil’ to one of His prophets; and would instruct the angels to perform a sinful and prohibited act in His presence (Allah forbid!).
I’ve tried to present the argument of those who say that music (of itself) is not sinful. It is not my purpose (nor my business) to say who is right and who is wrong.
