وعليكم السلام و رحمة الله وبركاته

Congratulations on embracing the truth.

Condoms and birth control is allowed if both husband/wife consent and because there is a need for it (e.g hardship on the wife to get pregnant, etc). Otherwise, we're encouraged in Islam to have children and not block the way to that.

Furthermore, my dear sister, Allah سبحانه و تعالى only allows sex within marriage. It is the only honorable kind. Pre-marital sex (fornication) and extra-marital sex (adultery) is forbidden because these are immoral and great evils which corrupt society. Many homes have been wrecked because of them, many lives ruined and/or killed. Islam blocks the means to evil. So dating/illegal sex is forbidden.

It is good that you are keen on following your religion. When you embraced Islam, all your previous sins were wiped clean :) And whatever sins you might have committed after that, you should repent over. And you should not continue that act (pre-marital sex) ever again. Remain chaste and modest until you get married. And have sex only with your husband.

Speaking of husband, Muslim women have to marry Muslim men only. Allah سبحانه و تعالى said non-Muslim men are unsuitable for Muslim men and Muslim women unsuitable for them. (And the Muslim woman would be oppressed under the roof of someone who doesn't believe and even mocks her religion). So this man you mentioned has to either repent and embrace Islam in order for you to marry him, or you have to find someone else to marry.. like fellow Muslims already pointed out.

Dear Superhijab, may Allah bless you for accepting Islam and strengthen you. In Islam, sexual relations with someone other than your spouse is a great sin. If the man becomes a Muslim, then you must marry him before having any form of intimacy with him. But if he doesnt become one than you need to marry someone else.

No sister you are not sinful for what you did before becoming a Muslim because Islam wipes out all the sins that came before it. Even after Islam, if you didnt know it was a sin then you are not sinful by the mercy of Allah inshaAllah.

You are correct brother, thank you for your answer, except that a Muslim women must only marry a Muslim man, and not a Jew or Christian. However Muslim men are allowed to marry (only chaste) women of the people of the scriptures. There are many wisdom behind this disctinction of rights, which other can discucss inshAllah.

but why does allah say sex before marriage is wrong? i am just curious for the reasoning because sex is a very enjoyable activity and seems to cause no harm

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

Why zinna haram........

Allah has forbidden Zinna and made committing it a major sin that is punished severely. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {… nor commit illegal sexual intercourse and whoever does this shall receive the punishment} [25: 68]. Allah not only forbids it but also forbids all ways that lead to it. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.). …} [24: 30]. Islam has set very deterring punishment for committing such an act. So, the virgin is given hundred stokes and exiled for a year while the married, divorced or widowed is stoned to death if committing Zina. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {The woman and the man guilty of illegal sexual intercourse, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. …} [24: 2]. There are many reasons for forbidding Zina. Here are some wisdoms behind this great ruling: 1) To avoid intermixing of blood kinship as this leads to losing track of progenity and neglecting rights. In fact, the society is but individuals that constitute families. So, if these families got lost and the responsibilities can no longer be defined, then people become like animals. 2) Zina is a disgrace to the personality, the honour and the dignity of the person it is also a big injustice towards the woman as it forces her to raise up children on her own....alot of murders com from zinna like som one find his wife or daughter with anther man and kill him,, The great number of disease that have been caused by Zina and that left the doctors puzzled and the scientists unable to act. We remind you here that Islam does not forbid anything but it is harmful and it always gives better alternatives. To Zinna the alternative is marriage.

Allah knows best.
