Assalaamulaikum I have a very. Big question to ask

There's a man he called him self (lord Aleem) and I sent a message saying how can you call your self lord when there is only 1 lord/god(Allah swt) My friend heard about this and later made a joke and said lord Harris lord sumel ( and even my name lord Asif ) I got angry and said please don't cause shirk and call me lord Asif or any1 else because Allah swt said compare another to him and you will be committing the biggest of sins

But my friends say lord has a lot of means like

(Landlords lord of the rigs lord alansugar or land of The Lord lords cricket grounds and lords as in the courts u say O my lord and etc

Please can you help me out in this because it's had me bursting in tempers and I'm not on to get angry in a calm person

Please jazakAllah khair

You ignore them. If they want to listen let them be as they will be judged for their deeds and you will be judged according to your own deeds. To put it simply its pure ignorance.

Nowadays, ignorance in the religion has become widespread. This is a sign of the Last Hour, as the Prophet has informed us. Anas narrated that the Messenger of Allah said, what translated means, “Raising up knowledge while ignorance remaining (on earth) is a Sign of the (Last) Hour.” [Al-Bukhari, Muslim & ibn Majah]. Also, Abu Hurayrah reported that the Messenger of Allah said, “Time will be shortened, the knowledge will be raised up, the Fitan (trials, calamities, etc.) will appear, stinginess will be widespread and Al-Haraj will appear in abundance.” He was asked, “And what is Al-Haraj?” He said, “Murder!” [Muslim & ibn Majah].

And BTW, I dont know if its wrong to call someone rabb, as the word rabb can also mean judge, etc.

Depending on the context that wouldnt necessarily be shirk but it should be avoided. I posted article on it at forums. I maybe wrong about it.

The english word lord has the same foundation as the english word god and that is paganism. The word lord corresponds with pagan dieties such as baal, adonay, kurious, to name a few. I understand that translators of the quran into english have used this word as an equal to the arabic word Rabb, which it is not the equivalant. Islamically implied the word Rabb means the giver sustainer the judge of all things known and unknown. To make it simple it is sustainer. People have been using the title lord for centuries. Is it wrong for some to call someone lord? No for lord as defined by the language
