I'm no expert so don't take my educated guess as a solid fact..my cousin is rally religious and he said that instrumental music was 'the devil'.. when I listen to the school band performing, I always laugh to myself because I think my cousin takes things waaay too seriously! Seeing as he doesn't even listen to music, it makes me wonder if music is even acceptable to listen to if you want to live a life of a good muslim. I don't know what type of music you listen to either, I DO know, however, that you can't break your fast with songs with explicit content (like rap songs with vulgar language (not that you'd be listening to that after breaking your fast) It's a bit of an obvious one..sorry if it wan't the answer you were looking for. And I hope someone can answer the question I have just asked about whether or not music in eneral is acceptable! Hope I still helped!

I believe you are able to listen to nasheed, music that is halal or proper, not this western music with the "shake shake booty wa Looty, up down bang bang bang skeet skeet water gun" garbage that all the people these days are into, this stuff is haram for being a bad influence for people. And even that screaming people music that puts holes in the listeners ears, this is nonsense music. Allah keep you on siratalmustakim inshallah, happy Ramadan.
