My friend reads quran very slowly and at a gathering was unable to finish a juz, and instead of completing it at home, a lady came and sat next to her and read the right page while my friend read the left page. So as the juz could be completed. Is this permissible? Jazak allah khair
As-salamu alaykum, Sister.
‘Those who recite Allah’s scripture, keep up the prayer, give secretly and openly from what We have provided for them, may hope for a trade that will never decline: He will repay them in full, and give them extra from His bounty. He is most forgiving, most appreciative.
(Fatir: verses 29 - 30).
The Prophet (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said:
‘Recite the Qur`an for it will intercede for its readers on the Day of Judgment.’
(Muslim: narrated by Abu Umama al-Bahliy).
Abu Huraira related that the Prophet (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said:
'No people gather in a house from the houses of Allah (the mosques), reciting the Qur`an and studying it amongst themselves, except that tranquillity descends upon them, mercy envelopes them, the angels surround them and Allah mentions them to those in His presence.'
(Muslim and Abu Dawud; with an authentic ascription according to the criteria laid down by Bukhari and Muslim).
As you can see, reciting the Qur’an in a group is a matter sanctioned by the Sharia. It seems reasonable to assume that reciting the Qur’an in the manner you have described is also permissible.
I hope this helps.
