Both books are the word of Allah meant for different times and different prophets. That being said, the core message in both books is identical.

  1. Belief in one God
  2. Belief in the messenger (Jesus or Mohammed (depending on the book))
  3. Belief in the book of God (Bible or Quran)
  4. Do Good
  5. Abstain from Evil
  6. Acknowledge Satan as the enemy of Man and the entity driving you away from God
  7. Belief in the day of Judgement

To me those are the books' common theme.

The Bible as we know it now has gone through many iterations and changes made by humans. So they have added or removed content as per their whims. Both have numerous stories and accounts of various Prophets and their trials and tribulations.

As a Muslim you should know that Allah has sent forth 4 books to the race of Man.

  1. Torah
  2. Zabur (Psalms)
  3. Injeel (Bible)
  4. Quran

All books are valid however the Quran is the superset of all the previous books and the final set of instructions for all Mankind.

I've read all the books and despite the massive differences the core message is the same across all the books.

May Allah guide us all to the right path.

If you are Muslim, and do not know about Christianity, if you read the Bible it will be easy for you to see the same teachings. Christians mis-interpret the Bible because they are being taught by the church who changes the meaning to make it more appealing to people. Read it on your own and you will see. I am Christian, but not taught by the church. Now I am studying Islam because I see it is a purer religion. But the message is the same like @z00100 said

From Al-Ma'idah:

(43) And how do they make thee a judge and they have the Torah wherein is Allah's judgment? Yet they turn away after that! And these are not believers. (44) Surely We revealed the Torah having guidance and light. By it did the prophets who submitted themselves (to Allah) judge for the Jews, and the rabbis and the doctors of the law, because they were required to guard the Book of Allah, and they were witnesses thereof. So fear not the people and fear Me, and take not a small price for My messages. And whoever judges not by what Allah has revealed, those are the disbelievers. (45) And We prescribed to them in it that life is for life, and eye for eye, and nose for nose, and ear for ear, and tooth for tooth, and for wounds retaliation. But whoso forgoes it, it shall be an expiation for him. And whoever judges not by what Allah has revealed, those are the wrongdoers. (46) And We sent after them in their footsteps Jesus, son of Mary, verifying that which was before him of the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel containing guidance and light, and verifying that which was before it of the Torah, and a guidance and an admonition for the dutiful. (47) And let the People of the Gospel judge by that which Allah has revealed in it. And whoever judges not by what Allah has revealed, those are the transgressors. (48) And We have revealed t thee the Book with the truth, verifying that which is before it of the Book and a guardian over it, so judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and follow not their low desires, (turning away) from the truth that has come to thee. For everyone of you We appointed a law and a way. And if Allah had pleased He would have made you a single people, but that He might try you in what He gave you. So vie with one another in virtuous deeds. To Allah you will all return, so He will inform you of that wherein you differed; (49) And that thou shouldst judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and follow not their low desires, and be cautious of them lest they seduce thee from part of what Allah has revealed to thee. Then if they turn away, know that Allah desires to afflict them for some of their sins. And surely many of the people are transgressors.
