Because smoking does pollute the body, so it is not a good deed done for yourself and breaks the Wudu done for the prayer. It is a commitment from that person to not smoke 5 minutes before and waiting the same time after the prayer before smoking. It is not a adorable to smoke straight before and straight after, because then you are polluting your body that is Ḥarām. Waiting will make Allah notice good done before the prayer as serious commit prayer done for yourself and your doing to/for God from now on. The prayer are God´s and your personal time together, so take this as a importance to be clean before and after the Du´a. The cigarette smoke leaves of course the body right after its breathed but is still polluting your lungs by laying a layer on your infected part of lungs by the toxic from the cigarettes, it does not vanish straight ahead but leaves after some minutes. To show your commitment so wait as a wish for 5 minutes before you smoke and 5 minutes after the prayer. The more time before and after shows your seriousness in a act for yourself and the commit prayer done as a commitment for God. This is of course seen by Allah, so this is important for all smokers. Praise Al-Merciful and show honor to him. It will be your and others kind of a Wudu done, because Masha Allah. You do not loose anything to do it from now on my believer but it is your own choice from now on and now you know it is something you could do as your seriousness shown in the prayer to and for God. If there are some that do not believe it is something to show their do for Allah and for the prayer, so do not fall between. Qaleqa not, you shall estaiqada after you esta'mala the ghasala before the prayer. Before you akhta’a and nadema it. Smoking doesn't spoil the wudu, but the smoker needs to clean his mouth before going for prayer. This is because his mouth stinks, which is hurting to the people and the angels.
