dogs in islam

is it consider haram to have a dog as a pet also what about praying and making wadu when u r around a dog please this is very important

 Yes, it is prohibited to have a dog in the house as a pet. Angels (of Allah's blessings) do not enter that house. However, if the purpose of having a dog is to guard the house it is permitted, but then the dog must not be allowed into the living part of the house and kept outside. One must keep oneself clear of the dog's saliva which is declared impure.
