I get a lot of mixed signals about what foods are harram and which are hallal, and it's not very clear from the Quran 6:145, as I know about some of the basic foods such as Pork, but not clear on seafood as some people you can't eat that but can eat that one (for example crab, prawns, lobster).... is there a list specifically on seafood of what you can and can't eat? |

Salam Well,i cant say the list but will say something else Prophet Muhammad S.A.W said Two types of dead animals and two types of blood are permitted for us. The types of dead animals are seafood and locusts. The two types of blood are the liver and the spleen. Wa Salam |

Prawns are Halal and there comes an important main Verse of Holy Quran. 5:96 Lawful to you is game from the sea and its food as provision for you and the travelers, but forbidden to you is game from the land as long as you are in the state of ihram. And fear Allah to whom you will be gathered. If the animal is slaughtered as usual by cutting the two jingular veins and the pharynx then it is halal for us to eat, but if the animal is killed by other means like electric shock or is strangulated to death or the like, then it is a dead meat and it is haram to eat it Allah S.W.T says Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah , and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. Quran.com 5:3 |
