I know fundementally the difference between the 2 sects in Islam, and the sub-divisions within the Shia side. I understand slightly how they came about in that Sunni's don't go down to the family Members (bloodline) of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) but in the Shia side they do, and have further sub-divisions. Is there any issues in being either one, as even the prayers are slightly different but I don't know the difference, special days Ashura for example. Is there a right and wrong answer to this? or it doesn't matter? |

Some people go so far as to say shia is not muslim, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that. We don't know what are someone else's true intentions, good or bad. What I have noticed about shias that seems strange and not good are the piligrimages they make to certain graves which seem to be some type of shrine. Some risk their lives for this as if they were to be martyrs to get killed visiting the shrine of a certain dead sheikh. I don' think this is acceptable to muslims who should hide the grave of some such person, in my opinion. I don't like the portraits I have seen of the ayatollas. We aer not catholics so why do these things. These are preislamic practices. |

The Shia follow the sunnah of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) as taught by the Ahlulbayt. The Sunnis follow those same traditions as narrated in Sahih Muslim and Sahih Bhukari. The Shia also follow the 12 Imams based on Hadith from Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) stating that the Ummah would be ruled by 12 Caliphs or Imams and that Ali would be the first Imam and that the Imams would come from his (PBUH) house. Ali was the 1st Caliph to change the title to Imam and not use the title Caliph. Also, the story in the Ingel about the rule of the 12 Princes is cited. The Shia place the Qur'an far above Hadith when ruling on Figh and Hadith from the Ahlulbayt take much greater priority than Hadith by others. The Shia consider the Ahlulbayt to be: Ali, Fatima, Hassan, Hussein, and the 9 Imams following Hussein. |

In the name of allah the most merciful the most gracious. The answer to this question is given in glorious Quran. Allah say's "Hold to the rope of allah and be not get divided.".It is further said that "who ever divide the religion of islam o prophet u have to do nothing with it allah will look after his affairs on the day of jugdement".there's is no division in islam. Allah is one, quran is one and our islam is one there is no division. |

Shia's are not muslims. They are considered a deviated sect. Their beliefs are completely different and incorrect. We cannot unite on Falsehood. SEE LINK: www.alislam.co.za/cms/archives/publication_category/pub_sub_shias-d |
